thing? Is Putin pulling some strings to help Trump? Kinda attempting to take the onus off the Mueller investigation?

(7,431 posts)Kim senses a weakness. Trumpy has no S.K. ambassador, few high level State Dept. people who specialize in N.K. He'll flatter Trumpy (who said that he admired Kim for his treachery and authoritarianism) and have Two-Scoops eating out of his hand. Trumpy knows nothing about Korean culture and history, but likely will think he can go it alone with Kim because he's the smartest man on the planet. He knows nothing about their recent history of negotiations. Hopefully, Mueller's bad manners will make Trumpy cancel the affair and we'll escape by the skin of our teeth.

(118,642 posts)and peace is at hand. But I just heard on CNN that North Korea was upping it production in its nuclear reactor(s) this past week.

NK conned Clinton, W and Obama, so they probably don't need any Russian help to run rings around this idiot.

(89,249 posts)we know who is behind that.
the only policy issues he focuses on and tries to actually push are the things directed by Putin.

(3,363 posts)And his approval is going up. I feel like this is a tactic to get him to win in 2020, and it may actually work. Our country is so insanely stupid.

(25,242 posts)this might be a Hail Mary to quell the Blue Tsunami coming in Nov 2018. Trump knows (and Putin as well) what would happen if the Dems win control of the House & Senate. Trump & the Repugs need to maintain their power or Trump & the Repug Party are toast.

(26,060 posts)down from 50 to 45 even in ridiculously right wing Rasmussen just this week. In fact, I think those particular numbers are what this Russia aproved stance is all about with NK.

(3,363 posts)But I think the big job report, the NK meeting which everyone is praising, and the Steel workers approval is going to increase his approval rating.

(26,060 posts)he manages to average a 45% approval (which would still be pathetic given the tax cuts and a fairly strong economy).

(14,971 posts)and distraction. Tillerson just said this morning that theyre a long way away from holding direct talks. No other American President has sat down with NK because they dont want to legimatize them. Trump loves his autocrats, though.

(19,429 posts)Guarantees of NKs future independence and integrity given by the US and South Korea wouldn't be enough.
However, a peace treaty with the Chinese and Russian nuclear umbrella extended over North Korea may give Kim enough assurance that he would agree to denuclearize North Korea itself.
Any hint of reunification has to be off the table on both sides. Only a "two state" solution is possible.

(6,797 posts)I think Putin is behind this whole charade to get sanctions lifted on Russia.

(50,269 posts)Kim probably sees Dear Leader (our Dear Leader) in the same way he sees Dennis Rodman: celebrity reality show star. And Kim wants a bigger part in the show. Can you think of anything that would generate more "lights, camera, action" than the "Nut Summit" at Mar-a-Lago? Don better be writing a large, large check out to Stormy to stop any potential tiny dick pix from being published during the event. LOL.

(13,340 posts)The Norks have been after a direct one on one with the USA for decades. It would give them legitimacy. Trump is just the first one to say he will do it, because he desperately needs to change the narrative.

(43,181 posts).....and as a result, he's easing sanctions against Russia.
And I have a feeling that was done for Russia's benefit, not for Trump's. They want the US to end sanctions, and they don't care how it's done, they just want it done.

(24,761 posts)I think either Putin is behind these "talks" (read: surrender to Russia via NK) or tRump has no intention of following through on the agreement, as he's wont to do.
