Last night I watched the film One Day in September, which is a documentary on the terrorism at the Munich Games in 1972. It includes an interview with one of the hostage takers as well as the wife and daughter of one of the 11 Israeli athletes who was killed. Film was made in 1999. I was in high school when this happened and I remember it, but I didn't understand it. I wonder how many people are unaware of this terrible incident.

Apparently the IOC did not want to have a moment's silence in the opening ceremony to remember the athletes who were killed 40 years ago this year.

They didn't realize that there were televisions in the athletes rooms - and that the terrorists were watching their coverage.
