Tom Brokaw rips Trump for calling Chuck Todd a 'son of a bitch': 'Really classy'

BY REBECCA SAVRANSKY - 03/11/18 08:42 AM EDT

Legendary NBC broadcaster Tom Brokaw criticized President Trump for referring to NBC's Chuck Todd as a "sleeping son of a bitch."

The comments come after Trump attacked Todd during a campaign rally Saturday evening.

Trump brought up Todd — who now hosts NBC’s “Meet the Press” — in mentioning a 1999 appearance on the show in which he spoke about needing to “take out” North Korea.

“A show now headed by ‘Sleepy eyes Chuck Todd,’” Trump said. “He’s a sleeping son of a bitch."

I'm not positive Brokaw would have voted for Trump as opposed to staying home, but I can even imagine him thinking it's his civic duty to vote, and voting for Hillary for fear of that happening to the country what indeed DID happen.

Todd may not have voted for Trump (and a major newscaster not on Fox Noise has no business telling the public anyway), but I certainly consider him to be dumb enough to have done so.

that Brokaw called him out.. I'm sure his "children" couldn't care less, though.

Wasn't Brokaw part of the media that normalized trump in the first place? I'm just guessing.. knowing some the history of who he's carried water for.

Why else this particular insulting "nickname" for this particular congresswoman? Being from western PA (although from another congressional district), I was cringing at the enthusiasm of that crowd for his embarrassing speech. Sorry I can't vote for Lamb, but hope, if he loses, it's at least really, REALLY close.

This is an example of enabling Trump with an expectation he is incapable of meeting. Even admonishing Trump there is an attempt to normalize him.

brokaw and his fellow newsreaders have soft-pedaled GoPeePee crackpot economic theories and disastrous policies, for decades, thus paving the way for the rise of someone like donnie.

And has brokaw come out criticizing donnie's hideous behavior and horrendous policies since being installed in the White House? No, he has to break his silence over a personal insult. Not that donnie doesn't deserve it, just that brokaw should have been outspoken a long time ago and on a frequent basis over more substantial matters.

During Bush the Idiot's term, KO was one of the only people in mass media calling his maladministration out.
Brokaw said he was embarrassed to be associated with 'that other affiliated network' (he was on NBC). He was down talking MSNBC for their so-called left wing journalism.

That's why this is so odd. I could see Trump saying something about Rachel or Lawrence, because they hammer the anti-Trump message every single day. Instead he picks on Chuck Todd who's as "middle of the road" as you can find on NBC.

Of course this is after he barfed all over Joe & Mika, I guess he's made up with them (?). I wish more commentators would stand up to Cheeto like Tom Brokaw has. Brokaw is a classy guy and Trump is a pig in a suit. I really can't wait until this nightmare is over.

which media person Trump insults. It could be Todd or anybody else. What's disgusting is that he insults any of them with his usual childish name-calling just to stir up his low-information base, most of whom couldn't pick Todd out of a lineup. That he slags someone who works for MSNBC or CNN (or any other media outlet) is all that matters. I remember presidents all the way back to Kennedy and none of them ever behaved like this one. Trump degrades his office every damn day.
