But as a New Jersey girl, I'm not completely surprised.

NBC saw it as either too much of a "downer;" too much "competition" for 9/11; or an opportunity to "avenge" the NHS segment.

Of course, if the situation were reversed, we'd have called back our ambassadors by now.

NBC suddenly decides that Americans can't handle discussion of terrorism's victims.

An outrageous decision by NBC on both political and artistic grounds.

Was it because the victims weren't American? It was certainly not because another Phelphs interview is newsworthy....

why on earth would they do that? It was a beautiful tribute with photos of loved ones who had died sent in by members of the public.

I have to say I watched the Canadian coverage on CTV (they showed the tribute) and then when NBC finally started I tried to watch their coverage too but it was SO bad, so many ads, the hosts were, imo, terrible, I stopped watching so I didn't realize they had cut it out.

Disgusting.

7. Four years ago....

I took a vacation at Cedar Point in Ohio (so many rides, so little time!) during the Beijing Olympics. I stayed in a hotel that had CTV and watched Olympic coverage on that. At an equestrian event, it was so quiet you could hear a pin drop.

8. Brian Williams has been the CTV host for the Olympics for a long time...

he is very good, he loves sports and is very respectful of the athletes and knows when to comment and when not to and just let the event speak for itself.

They always butcher the entire Olympics so badly. I wish the IOC or the USOC would call them on this shit.

I love that we can get the direct Beeb feed these days. Makes NBC irrelevant.

Perhaps we could nobble a few of those precious advertisers to lobby for more accurate, complete coverage

for the exclusive rights to show the games in the US, money that goes to support the IOC and USOC in their arduous work of visiting cities around the world to make sure they're suitable (i.e., can they provide the luxuries they've become accustomed to).

The NBC hosts mentioned it but I never saw such a thing. This is so smug and arrogant of NBC. Another blunder for the network after that bad "he looks black" edit of George Zimmerman's 911 call. The media in this country is a JOKE. Have any other opening ceremonies in the past been edited?
