Advice to all legislators up for reelection:
1. Go to your district and have numerous meetings with your constituents.
2. Don't make the meetings about you.
3. Listen to concerns and take notes.
4. Formulate a plan of action from notes. The plan that got you elected before is out of date.
5. Report back to constituents with a concrete plan of action that is tailored to your district.
6. Act and report back frequently.

Unless you're a Republican. In that case, take pictures from your roof, like Darrell Issa!

Unless you're Erik Paulsen, MN CD3, who hasn't had a town hall meeting in 6 years.

(17,146 posts)3. And if you are a Republican, do not invite Donald Trump.
I hope they never figure out that he is the kiss of death electorally speaking, but it seems obvious to me than any R needs to distance themselves completely, if they hope to win.
