Posting spoilers in thread titles isn't cool. If you want to be considerate of others, don't post them in our thread titles. And if you want to be super considerate, you should put a spoiler warning in your thread title.

HAVING SAID THAT, If you are someone who wants to avoid seeing spoilers, you should not be hanging out on a public message board or other social media. Because chances are that someone is going to post a spoiler, and you are going to see it.

It's just common courtesy and common sense.

What I find interesting is that, not that long ago, results are all anyone could get. We wanted them as soon as we could get them. I just think it's time to let the Internet be what it is, and, if you don't want to know something, avoid it. I mean, it's probably a good thing to take a break now and then, anyway.

That said, I must offer my sincere thanks to you, Skinner, for all you do for DU. You have created a wonderful place.

Knowing that some people do not want to see spoilers, it seems like the considerate thing to do.

If one values being considerate, then it is a no-brainier.

... makes that such an antiquated, soap opera request, that I'm just dumbfounded by the drama.

Also, having an individual refer to other DUers as Assholes in the title of his/her OP seems far worse than someone posting the result from an Olympic event that was on live television.

AUTOMATED MESSAGE: Results of your Jury Service

Mail Message
At Sat Jul 28, 2012, 01:26 PM an alert was sent on the following post:

And if you don't want to follow Skinner's rules, get the fuck off his website!
http://www.democraticunderground.com/?com=view_post&forum=1002&pid=1037382

REASON FOR ALERT:

This post is disruptive, hurtful, rude, insensitive, over-the-top, or otherwise inappropriate. (See Community Standards.)

ALERTER'S COMMENTS:

This is clear abuse of another DUer.

You served on a randomly-selected Jury of DU members which reviewed this post. The review was completed at Sat Jul 28, 2012, 01:35 PM, and the Jury voted 3-3 to LEAVE IT.

Juror #1 voted to HIDE IT and said: Take a walk before you hit the send button.
Juror #2 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE and said: No more disruptive and rude than posting spoilers, and Skinner did say not to do it. Of course, he could clean up his language a bit, but I digress.
Juror #3 voted to HIDE IT and said: No explanation given
Juror #4 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE and said: Harsh language does not in and of itself make for abuse. As HuckleB might say; 'don't go online if you don't want to see harsh language'.
Juror #5 voted to HIDE IT and said: Seriously, is that the way you want to be treated yourself? We all must learn to act decently even when we think the other person is soooo wrong.
Juror #6 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE and said: In this instance I will let it stay. "Get the fuck off" is less insulting than "fuck off", and given the context, well, I have to agree with the comment (though the fuck wasn't really necessary).

Thank you very much for participating in our Jury system, and we hope you will be able to participate again in the future.

no worries about my posting spoilers. If I really care who won, and want to know exactly at the time it happened, there are other sites I can visit where real-time results will be posted. So, not posting spoilers here seems to me to be a reasonable request. I'd ask that you post that request in a reasonable way, though, rather than call people assholes.
