Hoping to start another hot thread!!

Not really. I lie. I just have two suggestions. In the hopes that we can preserve grounds for the belief that the left is, in general, more rational than the right, how about if we....

1 - Don't attribute bad motivation to people who post ideas with which we disagree.

2 - Take care to respond to what people actually say, rather than to distortions of their positions.

This doesn't mean take away the passion. We can passionately believe that someone else's position is wrong without accusing them of supporting Trump, or... or....

The written word can be easily misunderstood sometimes. I have written things (not just on this website) and been surprised when someone misunderstood me. Upon re-reading, I usually realize that had a phrase been turned a little differently it would have been easier for the reader to interpret.

Kick in to the DU tip jar?

This week we're running a special pop-up mini fund drive. From Monday through Friday we're going ad-free for all registered members, and we're asking you to kick in to the DU tip jar to support the site and keep us financially healthy.

As a bonus, making a contribution will allow you to leave kudos for another DU member, and at the end of the week we'll recognize the DUers who you think make this community great.

Tell me more...
