Trump has a real affinity for people who share his moral depravity and his contempt for our laws and institutions. Both his kind and all the others who were far too smart and competent to be his kind recognized that. Not to mention people of honor.

Which is why many, many good people who were recommended to him refused to be part of his administration, leaving openings to instead filled be with hyenas like these.
