FBI questions Ted Malloch, Trump campaign figure and Farage ally

American once touted as possible ambassador to EU tells of being detained at Boston airport and subpoenaed by Robert Mueller’s Trump-Russia inquiry

A controversial London-based academic with close ties to Nigel Farage has been detained by the FBI upon arrival in the US and issued a subpoena to testify before Robert Mueller, the special counsel who is investigating possible collusion between the Trump campaign and the Kremlin.

Ted Malloch, an American touted last year as a possible candidate to serve as US ambassador to the EU, said he was interrogated by the FBI at Boston’s Logan airport on Wednesday following a flight from London and questioned about his involvement in the Trump campaign.

In a statement sent to the Guardian, Malloch, who described himself as a policy wonk and defender of Trump, said the FBI also asked him about his relationship with Roger Stone, the Republican strategist, and whether he had ever visited the Ecuadorian embassy in London, where the Wikileaks founder Julian Assange has resided for nearly six years.

Malloch’s campaign for the diplomatic post came to an end after a report in the Financial Times detailed several apparently misleading claims made in Malloch’s autobiography, including that he was a fellow at Wolfson and Pembroke colleges at Oxford, that he had once been called a “genius” by Margaret Thatcher, and that he was the “first” to coin the phrase “thought leadership”.

I still need to know why Don the Con publicly asked Theresa May to appoint Farage as Ambassador to the US.
They are all rotten to the core.

An ally of Nigel Farage was asked to obtain secret information from WikiLeaks for Donald Trump’s team during the 2016 election campaign, according to US investigators.

Ted Malloch, a London-based academic close to Farage, was allegedly passed a request from a longtime Trump adviser to get advance copies of emails stolen from Trump’s opponents by Russian hackers and later published by WikiLeaks.

The allegation emerged in a draft legal document drawn up by Robert Mueller, the special prosecutor investigating Russia’s interference in the 2016 election and any collusion with Trump’s campaign team.

Malloch, 66, has been under scrutiny by Mueller for months, amid suggestions that he may have served as an important nexus in 2016 between Trump’s White House bid and the campaign to secure Britain’s exit from the EU.

Does Robert Mueller Have Some InfoWars Guy At Black Site, Just Like Crazy Twitter Says?

Malloch briefly made it into mainstream news last year when he claimed he was Donald Trump’s first choice to be the next US ambassador to the European Union, which isn’t exactly true. As in, he was never under consideration for the job at all, no matter how many times he insisted on Twitter that he was. He was in favor of Brexit, wants the EU to disband, and, as the Financial Times noted last year, has a real habit of fibbing about his own brilliant achievements.

In his autobiography, Malloch said a documentary he made for PBS had been “nominated for an Emmy” — not quite. The station which made the program had actually submitted it for consideration in the “Lower Great Lakes Chapter Regional Emmy” awards, but it hadn’t actually been nominated. He also claims that in 1992, Margaret Thatcher praised him in a speech as a “genius” and as a “global sherpa” — whatever that is. But no, video of the speech shows her saying no such thing. He claimed a knighthood, and said his friends and family all call him “Sir Ted.” Maybe they call him that as a joke, since the honor he actually got was “several ranks lower than a knighthood. It does not carry a right to a title and members do not attend an investiture with the Queen.” And he also claimed that in a low-level post in the UN, he “helped bring down the Soviet Union,” possibly in the same way that anyone who moved any paper involving the Grenada invasion got a medal. Then there’s his amusing claim to be related to Theodore Roosevelt — you know, his full name is “Theodore Roosevelt Malloch.”
