(6,843 posts)Sorry, but their version of Christ is so far removed from the ancient traditions and texts handed down, it's laughable.
It's not the same God. They are no more Christian than Mormons or Jehovah's.

(11,872 posts)Has Trump been saved (publicly accepted Jesus as Savior)? If so, when and where?
Has he been baptized? If so, when and where?
Is Trump a member of a church? If so, which one? How often does he attend?
Then, this one.
Did you know that Hillary Clinton is a lifelong Christian and member of the Methodist church?

"I thought it was for offering," he told staffers with a laugh. He contributed money several minutes later when the offering plates were passed.".....

(13,305 posts)..Evangelicals being completely and utterly full of shit about their morals, their beliefs, their everything.
They don't actually care about "family values".
They don't actually care about morality.
They don't actually care about "life".
They don't actually care about how devout or church-going a person is.
They care about hating people who don't look, act, and think like them, and that's ultimately all they ever care about. And the Republican party and Trump give them that in spades.
The biggest waste of any of our time is continuing to try and play "GOTCHA!!!" with this cult of lunatics and trying to imagine/pretend that anything we point out or say is going to make them go "Wow. That's true. I really never thought of that. I've been really hypocritical. You've convinced me!!"

(27,823 posts)The church scheduled their holy days to coincide around the time of traditional Pagan holy days. Maybe to make the transition easier? Who knows. Spring's Ostara a big fertility festival that celebrates the oncoming growing season. For some reason, those symbols remained entrenched. I always thought that it was strange those representations were retained, but as a descendant of Pagans, it also makes me smile.
Christmas falls around Yule.
They even parked All Saint's and All Soul's Day at the same time as the celebration of Samhain, or Halloween.

(39,376 posts)Apparently it's nothing more than placing a marshmallow (playing the role of Jesus) into a small bun that is then baked in the oven. The heat melts the internal marshmallow and when you tear open the bun, voila Jesus is not in the tomb, I mean bun.
I should get bonus points for not falling out of my chair laughing at them.

(27,823 posts)I have incurred the ire of some 'born agains' when I inform them of the rationale behind the placement of Christian holy days. But, to each their own - as long as they don't try to impose their beliefs on me, I won't try to impose mine, beyond sharing a few interesting historical tid bits, on them.
