While we are all focused on Trump and the dysfunction he has caused, has anyone ever questioned FOX News and their playbook? I believe they just might have some Russians in bedded in their newsroom. They are so anti American and have divided this country on a scale that is unprecedented. Who is calling the shots and have we really looked into them? The conservative base is being negatively affected by an ignorant president right before their eyes. The President was going to make Mexico fund the wall, now he wants to take money from the military to pay for the wall. His tariffs are hurting his base. And Fox News continues to support through propaganda. I learned about the damage of propaganda in the military and television is a superb medium to transfer the material that will divide us. What I see is a news channel that broadcasts everywhere and has reached out to those wearing the uniform. I think FOX news has been in the grand design of breaking our powerful nation. It's hard to have defended a great country and watch it implode from within because we have allowed the infiltration and influence of a country who wants to destroy us.

(3,433 posts)At the base of it are the sociopaths who know what they are doing, but don't care what damage they are doing to our society, taking advantage of non critical thinking, racial or tribal minded people. Alex Jones and Rush Limbaugh definitely fit into that category. Others have just been hooked on the otherism themselves, probably Sean Hannity. The Russians are taking advantage of the situation. Both the Russians and the dividers need to be exposed.

(19,028 posts)What Sinclair is doing now will be worse. People now expect spin from the national news, but Sinclair is requiring local news anchors to read state propaganda like its true. When people start hearing this propaganda on the local news it will be believed. People still trust the local news and we are not prepared for this. We are not all the way down the rabbit hole, this country is not going to be recognizable in a couple years.

(18,625 posts)but Fox does broadcast blatant lies and propaganda and also controls the president since he gets most his news and nearly all of his policy ideas from Fox News.
It certainly does make one suspicious.
I think an in depth investigation would be warranted.

I'm not saying they aren't helping them rather I suspect it's just that their interests are aligned currently and the Republicans want the power to shape our country regardless of how they get it and the Russians are eager to do that providing they're allowed to do what they are given a free hand to do what they want to do.
What do the Russians want? I suspect what they want are to conquer some more territory of their neighbors probably some more pieces of Ukraine as well as some of the others but if there's a strong NATO that makes it harder so they've got to weaken NATO which means they have to weaken the US.
That means they are going to work to cause discord and help somebody like Trump into office.

(501 posts)If you target the most vulnerable, the most uneducated, you can exercise control over them. The more educated I became, the more I realized that Fox was spreading propaganda. The Russians could never use the other mainstream news media to conquer and divide because they would be called out on their bs. I believe this Russian influence is deep within FOX news and I believe it has been there, lurking behind the scenes, for a very long time.

(613 posts)That's why the GOP created Liberty U, Hillsdale -- why they attack universities today.
(p.s. we should never forget that only 4% of hard scientists are Republicans. So universities aren't liberal because of philosophy professors, they're liberal because of SCIENCE professors. Universities are liberal because they contain smart and educated people who care about others. Hard scientists are trained to evaluate data and come to their own conclusion. And they've concluded that GOP ideas are bad ideas.)

(613 posts)(We don't have to posit any connection to the Russians - Fox is bad enough just being run by a billionaire.)
Just one comment on history: Fox was founded in 1997.
It was Limbaugh and right-wing fear radio that started it. GOP billionaires need votes for their anti-working class tax cut policies. So they built a propaganda machine: Limbaugh, Hewitt, Fox, NY Post, WSJ, Boston Herald, Breitbart, Reason, Cato Fnd, Jud Watch, Cit U, Bradley Fnd, Searle, ALEC, State Policy Network, Heritage -- these are ALL propaganda organizations, funded by billionaires to achieve their donors' goal: destroy government to cut taxes on the rich.
How does the propaganda machine get votes for the GOP? Using fear. Fear of black people, gay people, liberals, immigrants. And Trump just took over the propaganda machine. Now Fox and Sinclair are showing their true colors to support the president and the GOP.
You're absolutely right. The GOP propaganda machine is what created Trump.

(613 posts)You don't have to connect Fox to the Russians AT ALL to show how they are designed to break America down.
Fox is destroying America to help GOP billionaires. To help American oligarchs. (And they're run by an Australian/UK/American oligarch: Murdoch.)

(38,958 posts)They only deduced a clever means to exploit the divide in the country and use it to their advantage. The divide has been there for a very, very long time if not since the founding of the nation in various forms. Had Fox and it's AM Talk Radio sidekick used their abilities to bring people together and solve problems it could have been a force for good, but that would have been more difficult and more expensive.
Rush Limbaugh and his playmates are not interested in solving any problems, they are only interested in exploiting them to stir the pot, divide groups against one another, increase ratings and thereby ad revenues.
