"Storm is coming" Republican strategist says about Trump

https://www.marketwatch.com/story/republican-strategists-warning-about-trump-probe-the-storm-is-coming-2018-04-01?link=TD_marketwatch_home_page.83461b39d1bfc251&utm_source=marketwatch_home_page.83461b39d1bfc251&utm_campaign=circular&utm_medium=MARKETWATCH

He went on to say a switch in Republicansí fortune in Congress after Novemberís midterm elections could bring dire consequences for the Trump presidency.

ďAnd itís hard to believe then that when Republicans lose the House in 2018, maybe by 40 or 50 seats, that the House is not going to impeach him,Ē Castellanos said.

ďAnd itís also hard to believe that a U.S. Senate thatís going to be scared to death, though may still be in Republican hands, is not going to take a serious look when it has to deal with this president,Ē he said. ďSo get good legal help now, because the storm is coming.Ē

Trumpís legal team, according to numerous reports, has been reduced to two or three attorneys after John Dowd, his lead lawyer, resigned on March 22 after quarreling with the president over how to respond to Muellerís prosecutors.

I am positive that any Republican with two brains cells to rub together is already thinking the same thing. Trump will employ every strategy he has to create a false narrative that he is great for the nation and only he can fix the problems, and will make the reality TV splash he is so famous for, and at least his staunch 30% will buy it all. But the Emperor truly has no clothes and we had best make sure *that* is the reality that finally sticks. If that means voting against Trump, regardless of the Dem message that so many purists are so eager to critisize, so be it. No more of this purity shit that we must vote for something. Voting against something is still and important an valid reason for casting a vote.

2. The president values pretending above anything else.

Comes from having nothing to sell and a lifetime of hiring only yes-men. Republicans who warn him that he might have to behave even a little differently are gonna be ignored as though they were Democrats.

9. yep with this doofus in charge it's all about perception, even when that perception is so

incontrovertibly divorced from reality. The GOP as well, all smoke and mirrors with them.

25. Yeah. Everything is about his perception of what our perception is.

With no social skills, he is eternally unable to divine what his audience really likes. Except for the cheers; he hears them, he'll go on repeating whatever it was he just said.

3. I've wondered if some of this isn't related

The GOP know what is going on. It is pretty obvious.

The GOP can dump Trump and replace him with Mike Pence whenever they want.

They just don't want to yet.

They have probably already figured out when they're going to so they can minimize their losses.

Meanwhile, they're just playing along.

Trump was a means to an end - got them their almighty tax cuts. They can blame Trump for that and move on cutting social programs to balance the budget like none of it was their fault.

5. They don't want to go down that path

They took us there with Clinton, but part of the price was having to install W and guarding his backside for 8 years. They know if Trump is removed, it will be much easier the next time they install an incompetent in the WH.

Clinton survived because if was only a consensual bj and the country wasn't in peril. W was a disaster, but it didn't come until late in his tenure and Obama had to clean it up.

Now Trump has the worst of both, lying about sex, incompetence, and looming economic/diplomatic disaster. Huge GOP losses will make him a threat to their party as much as a threat to the nation, he's walking on a crumbling ledge.

17. I'm not sure they have a choice

They have nearly three years left in Trump's term.

Mueller is doing his thing. If he carries on, he's probably going to nail Trump
If they fire Mueller, someone else will have to replace him or there will be major trouble with them getting elected in the Senate & House. And/Or (to borrow from Trump's lawyer, Cohen) trouble winning the White House in 2020.

If they participate in cutting Trump's throat, I think it softens the blow "Trump's a criminal. Didn't pay his taxes. Got involved with the Russians. Lied. It's our patriotic duty to remove him. He deceived us like he did you and so many others ... Mike Pence will carry on with the policies you elected Donald Trump to do."

I do not think the GOP will suffer the outrage that they suffered with Nixon. Iran Contra, Willie Horton, swiftboating a Vietnam war hero, Florida 2000 recount, gerrymandering, voter suppression, Citizen's United, etc - is too quickly forgotten.

and why we still have others undermining this most basic of facts, attempting to encourage a purity stand to even at the mere mention of a candidate's name..

22. Holy Cannoli, neither can I. I just don't get it.

We simply MUST have perfect or we're taking our ball and going home and pouting and screw all the rest of you. Voting for the merely good is NOT good enough.

Yeah, THAT'S gonna get a whole helluva lot accomplished.

If you MUST hold out for perfect when the merely good, or even the really good, isn't enough, you thereby guarantee that you'll wind up with bad.

10. Another storm is also coming..The Kochs, Mercers & others will finance a "storm" of attack ads

aimed at all Dems running for Congress (House and Senate) this year.
Money will be no problem for them.
I predict that the Koch brothers & the Mercers alone will spend more than $1 billion this fall running their negative, attack ads.

Democrats must "get out the vote" this time, because if only 25 percent actually vote, the GOP will still control both houses of Congress after November 6.

The DNC, the DCCC, & the DSCC all need to work together this time.
A unified Democratic Party will win back the House, (and even possibly the Senate as well)
If the "Berniecrats" are not included in DNC leadership, the Repukes will prevail, imo.
A united Democratic Party will do well on November 6.
A divided Democratic Party will not do well on November 6.

16. good thing our election infrastructure is tippy-top

and nobody is interested in the outcome of an off year election. Should be a cinch.

Let's see, last time we outvoted them by 3.5 million.

I wonder how much it will take to overcome the (improved no doubt for 2018) rigging, not just be a victim of it.

Oh, forget I said anything. Go to the polls in great numbers, it's all we have, if that.
