They don't nibble on your toes and fingers as you sleep - RIGHT ?

(46,166 posts)I didn't have the guts to watch the video.
I used to take the NYC subways for decades until I moved to Colorado and never once saw any critters. Not even an ant or a roach. This is chilling.

(14,144 posts)when major earth moving construction is done. During the Boston Big Dig major rodent populations were disrupted and forced to the surface areas until the heavy construction subsided. Just below the surface, within the sewage systems, and mostly out of sight (nocturnal) - lurk these little creatures just waiting for the proper moment to really nibble on our fingers and toes - literally.

(46,166 posts)Many years ago my brother, who lived in Queens, told me that he woke up that morning and a rat was trying to nibble on one of his fingernails. Naturally, it freaked him out. I think they were renting a second floor apartment in a two family house at that time. So it was probably the late 1970s.
My family didn't live right near the water but rats were fairly common in Woodhaven, Queens. I remember when my folks found one under the kitchen sink. That was a bad day!

(95 posts)One summer evening a few years ago I walked down a street on Capitol Hill following a rat. At each front sidewalk, it would run up to the house and check for entrance all along the front of the house. Finding none, it would run back out to the sidewalk, staying ahead of my pace, and go to the next sidewalk, where it would run up to the next house. I saw it do this five or six houses in a row until I lost sight of it.

(14,144 posts).... dine in - and maybe move in if the accommodations up to standards and are acceptable. When it starts getting cold out, with the winter chill coming, the rodents are desperate to locate heated quarters and munchies to tie them over for the winter season.
Just look upon them as non-paying room mates who help keep the food supply expiration date rotated. It helps keep things in the pantry fresh and this side of going past stale and less delicious.
Thank God for the concerned citizens who recorded the whole thing for our entertainment. Really civic minded.

(47,953 posts)I had one pet who loved to escape her cage and come wake me up. Was a really clever rat.
Had another who just liked to curl up on the nightstand, like a cat, and chill while I read.
