... comes down to whether the vulnerable want to bet on an eventual pardon, or on the very real prospect that the promised pardoner won't be in office when it counts - or that he'll watch them rot in prison if he ever thought their loyalty to him was questionable.

3. When Eric Schneiderman asks him nicely

if he wants to spend 30 years in a New York Prison, Cohen will flip. Mr. Schneiderman may even offer to help protect him from trump's Russian hit-men. He will be safer being relocated than he would be in prison (where trump mafia will be able to get to him, fearing he may flip).
