(8,345 posts)When he was running for President he gave the most compelling interview I have ever heard (talking about his mothers' struggles) so I have no idea what happened to him.

(4,138 posts)Even when he was a progressive darling, he always seemed like a lightweight back-bencher more interested in self-promotion than meaningful action. And Republicans couldn't have created a more perfect dorky, out-of-touch liberal strawman if they tried.
And he's only gotten worse from there.

(1,464 posts)I agree with someone upstream - I've done a 180.
We used to like him. We donated pretty good chunks of change to his campaign(s) in the early aughts. We went to his local campaign stops (you'd be lucky if there were 30 other people there). We met actress Mimi Kennedy (who was supporting him & traveling with him)...she complimented my father on a question he asked (about Halliburton if memory serves).
I never thought he had much of a chance. He looked funny. He never polled very well. But he was one of the only true peace candidates. That was big for us.
Either we were fooled or he totally changed. Whatever the case, I don't like him anymore.
