Kushner Cos. has received a federal grand-jury subpoena as part of an investigation being conducted by the U.S. attorney's office in the Eastern District of New York, The Wall Street Journal reported Thursday.

The Journal reported that the subpoena came after an Associated Press story which alleged that Kushner Cos. had filed documents stating it had no rent-controlled tenants, when it actually has hundreds.

10. No he is not. This is a criminal probe so the government obtains evidence by subpoena, search

warrants, witness accounts and grand jury testimony. Discovery in a criminal cases different than in a civil case where either sides can take depositions. Once the State completes its investigation and charges an individual usually by an indictment then the defendant is entitled to discovery. Each State has their own rules of discovery in criminal cases so this info may not apply to every State
