Let's Talk Facts, GOP

We don’t object to the fact that a Republican is in the White House. We have seen both Republicans and Democrats in the Oval Office, and their individual records speak for themselves.

What we do object to is having a man in the Oval Office, regardless of which party he is from, who lies to the American people on a daily basis. Donald Trump has done just that – a fact which is not debatable. His lies have been proven to be lies, and they have been proven to be constant and without respite.

We don’t take issue with the idea that every president goes through a learning curve, a period during which he must be educated as to his duties and responsibilities, and his role in governing our nation and representing our country in the global community.

What we do object to is a president who flatly refuses to be so educated, and instead chooses to run our government based on his mood, his whims, and his sense of self-importance.

We don’t object to any president appointing people he trusts to Cabinet posts, or as advisors to his administration.

What we do object to is a president who appoints inexperienced, and often provably incompetent people to positions that affect the lives of millions of citizens, and could have a negative impact on our dealings with our allies around the world.

We don’t object to any president expressing his displeasure with political forces that are averse to his policies, his decisions, and/or his expressed agenda.

What we do object to is a president who uses his position to promote the idea that those who oppose his actions are guilty of crimes, and should be “locked up” – not based on any actual evidence, but based simply on his own paranoia, coupled with a childish need for revenge. What we also object to is a president who uses his office to lash out at individual citizens, groups, entities and/or businesses that speak out against him.

We appreciate that any president is a potential target for journalists, whose job is to report the news as events unfold. As history has shown, that reportage can range between highly favourable and downright scathing towards whoever sits in the Oval Office.

What we do not accept is a president who labels honest coverage of the facts as “fake news”, while at the same time taking his cues from a news outlet notorious for lying to and/or misleading the public.

We don’t question the concept that every president desires to strengthen our relationships with our allies, while reaching out to our enemies in hopes of finding common ground that could lead to mutually beneficial compromises.

What we do question is a president who consistently demeans our traditional allies, while praising our biggest foe, Russia – its leadership, its tactics, its oppression of democratic thought – a president who literally handed classified information to the Russians, who steadfastly refuses to enforce sanctions against them, and passes up no opportunity to take actions that are to their benefit and to the detriment of our own country.

We understand that “acting presidential” is often in the eye of the political beholder. We are aware that every president has his own way of doing things, his own “style”.

What we don’t understand is how mocking the disabled, bragging about grabbing pussies, accusing his predecessor of spying on him, and tweeting incoherent nonsense equates to “acting presidential” in any sense of the term.

We know that any president would want to be seen as strong, committed, and able to make intelligent decisions on a moment’s notice when necessary.

What we don’t know is why a self-declared “very stable genius” changes his mind – literally from one minute to the next – based on information that is never shared, and so-called facts that are never made evident.

So no, we don’t object to a Republican being in the White House per se.

What we do object to is a lying, self-serving, misogynistic, racist – who is up to his eyeballs in investigations into his businesses, his obvious obstruction of justice, and his probable collusion with our nation’s enemies – holding the highest office in the land.

What we do object to is a man who was known to be a cheat, a liar, an oft-bankrupted businessman, a mentally unstable and emotionally erratic idiot having been elected and defended by a political party that knew his history and supported him anyway.

What we do object to is the very idea that one of the country’s two major political parties would put their party’s hold on power above the well-being of their country and their fellow citizens.

We don’t object to you, GOP, as a party or as individuals. But we do object to what you have become, what you have lowered yourselves to, and how you have shown yourselves more than willing to see our nation’s long-standing institutions destroyed in order to defend an incredibly ignorant, dishonest con-man who has never put our country above his own self interests, and never will.

It’s time to stop framing the opposition to Trump as being merely a matter of Democrats opposing Republicans, been-there-done-that-politics-as-usual. This stopped being about (D)s v (R)s the minute it was obvious just how ill-informed, ill-mannered, and ill-equipped Trump is to handle his own ego, no less handle the duties required by his position – and that minute happened within his first week in office, an entire week spent insisting that his inauguration was bigger than Obama’s, despite all proof to the contrary.

So let’s drop this pretence that our objection to Trump’s presidency is a result of sour grapes, or disappointment that Hillary Clinton lost the election. Our objection to this immature, incompetent buffoon goes much deeper than that; it is grounded in what we see being done to our nation’s standing in the world, and our long-standing reputation as a people who welcome immigrants, respect the law, and strive to better the lives of all who live within our borders.

The Blue Tsunami you see coming your way is not the result of outrage that a Republican is president. It is the result of a self-serving idiot occupying our White House and at this point, his party affiliation has less than nothing to do with it.

Hill, refusing to hold him accountable, while being the only party right now that can do so. But Democrats will clean up the mess and set our house back in order.

and repeats what has been said many times: it's bad enough that that buffoon is in our White House, BUT it is the Republican Party and its leadership that has its eyes closed, ears covered, and too chickenshit to say anything against IQ45 as long as they are getting their agenda of paving the way for the 1% to screw over the rest of us!

from tens of millions. (If that isn't a genocidal maniac, what is?)

Anyway, I had some state Republican caller call me, and in about 3 seconds I was screaming at him about Republicans being genocidal maniacs taking healthcare from millions. Was I wrong? And if there is any fuckhead whose going to tell me that people can just go to emergency rooms, well fuck off. All they do is stabilize you and throw you back out on the street with prescriptions you can't afford to fill, and referrals to doctors you can't afford to see.

I object to them for that reason. And now that he is such a disaster, their elected officials are doing NOTHING.

So I do object to the GOP.
