Dear PSU students, fans and worshipers,
JOE PATERNO WAS NOT A VICTIM!
You seem to be unable to wrap your twee minds around this fact. Until there is some iota of change and remorse about what happened, I hope you lose every game you play by eleventy billion points.
It seemed that you were going to stand up and play while putting PSU pride back together. It now appears that you are intent on strengthening the cult of Joe. That is what lead to this abominable situation.
Signed,
Gawd and Everybody

God, I hope the academics finally run all athletics off that campus. Only in America would College educated people be glad they cannot spell.

-as per mentioned by others Whose rather than Who is-
Granted, I would have placed a "," comma in between "Mistake" and "Was" for emphasis, but that was also arguably correct.

(8,217 posts)Thanks! Was mostly looking at how the wording changed completely missed that part out.
My mistake.
CTyankee
(63,900 posts)The possessive "whose" is correct. "Who's" is a contraction of "Who is."
Xyzse
(8,217 posts)I'll update the post to show the correction.
I was mostly looking at how the quotation changed the phrase.
CTyankee
(63,900 posts)sentence before it and that would require a comma before "whose..."

(103,856 posts)and we all know they are eliminating "art".....
I LOVED diagramming sentences as a kid, and I don't think my kids learned about it much, if at all, in school
Without it, it's nearly impossible to make much sense when writing.
"Word" tries, but we all know how miserably spell-check misses the mark sometimes.
CTyankee
(63,900 posts)I, too, did diagramming and I remember liking it. I was good at it (I guess that's why I liked it so much!).

Heavens, what a thought! Teaching kids to think instead of teaching them to knock each other down and hurt them!!
Woah!!

(103,856 posts)He was willing to write off the young kids who were being abused. He was more than willing to accept the accolades & big bucks . He was as much the abuser as Sandusky was.

(12,482 posts)will eventually feel a lot of embarrassment later in life about what they chose to stand up for - an institution and people who aided and abbetted child rape.
at the very least there will come places and times when it will be clear that cannot mention the fact they defended these twisted people without experiencing harsh scorn others.

(35,015 posts)I am pissed off at my fellow DUers. Someone posts a pic of that that stupid sign, and DUers make assumptions that PSU alumni and students are dumb and horrible people. Are you really so narrow-minded to say "THAT is a PSU education"? Ridiculous.

Fuck JoePa, and the clowns he worked for, and the cowards who worked for him, and the horses they all rode in on!

Those poor kids.

(24,096 posts)I'm sorry but reading that was... painful. Fubar message done in the parlance of a grade 6er.
o, and btw.
fuck you in hell, JoePa.

(35,015 posts)How about posting a positive story about Penn State? I am sick of you bashing my school and making assumptions that all alumni, all students are boneheads who worship Joe Paterno.
Just get over it.

(17,111 posts)That's your solution?
I don't think all people connected with PSU worship JVP. It is a world class university in many academic ways.
However, the only people I hear or see are the deniers. They are the ones defining PSU now. Are they getting the attention from the media? You bet, but why don't I hear somebody or some group trying to counter them.
The victims will never get over it. That's a fact. Until there is some clear recognition of the damage done and people truly expressing some sorrow and remorse over what happened, I won't just get over it.
It would be oh so nice to pretend that all is well now and everything is fixed. It's not. This will and should be a part of Happy Valley for a long time because it was beyond heinous. People can push for a compete change in the leadership and focus or they can whine and watch the same loudmouths take right back over.
And yes, if this was my alma mater, I have said more than once what I would want. I'd want the football stadium to be razed and the ground salted so nothing would grow. The empty space would be a message and a warning. I dearly love that place and it would break my heart. However, YOU DO NOT MESS WITH KIDS EVER!
You can get over it.
Avalux
(35,015 posts)I am not telling the victims to get over it and agree you don't mess with kids ever. However, going after PSU with a vengeance as a means to deal with something personal isn't fair to those of us who are innocent AND support the victims. We are ALL victims here.
Tansy_Gold
(17,850 posts)You may be innocent, but you're not a victim. No one is taking away your college degree (assuming you have one). No one is asking you to cut ties with friends you made there. No one is bleaching you memory of the good times you had.
BUT YOU ARE NOT A VICTIM.

(17,850 posts)No one is bashing all of Penn State or all alumni or all students. The only ones being bashed are the idiots who made the illiterate sign and those who still worship at the shrine of a pedophile protector/enabler.

(1,502 posts)We're talking about Child Rape, Child Rape Enablers and the sycophants who worship a Child Rape enabler. So no, people won't and shouldn't get over it. For you to ask them to makes you look really bad, to say the least.

(35,015 posts)I love that school, the experiences, then people I interacted with....positive experiences. I have had to struggle with a lot of feelings since this has all come out, and it hurts when people bash PSU as a whole. That's what I'm talking about.....go ahead and bash Sandusky, Paterno, et al and the fans who still support Paterno. I am right there with you on that. PSU is made of a lot more than those people.
