But when Milman was questioned by prosecutor M Stewart Ryan, members of the press and public started laughing as he said that among the 70 publications of which the toxicologist boasted, one was a letter to the editor and two were works of fiction, in which the lead character is an expert forensic toxicologist one a political thriller, the other science fiction.
The toxicologist struggled to recall and pronounce the active ingredient of Botox while recounting his involvement in a previous case and, after several attempts, finally left the word, 'Botulism?' hanging like a question in the air.
When asked if he held any licenses Milman, who is not board certified, replied, 'I hold a driving license.'
Asked how many toxicologists were part of the online network Tox.com, which he claims to run but is not an active website, he said: 'One. Me.'
