But shes re-emerging now, and announcing herself as a Trump supporter in the process.
Twain is Canadian, but tells a Guardian interviewer that she would have voted for Trump.
She says the presidentwho lies at rates that shock experts who study politicians and honestyseemed honest.
I would have voted for him because, even though he was offensive, he seemed honest. Do you want straight or polite? Not that you shouldnt be able to have both. If I were voting, I just dont want bullshit. I would have voted for a feeling that it was transparent. And politics has a reputation of not being that, right?

According to Chinese medical face reading, when the white part of the eye, known as the sclera, is visible beneath the iris, it represents physical imbalance in the body and is claimed to be present in alcoholics, drug addicts and people who over-consume sugar or grain. Conversely, when the upper sclera is visible it is said to be an indication of mental imbalance in people such as psychotics, murderers, and anyone rageful. Stress and fatigue may also be a cause.[2] In either condition, it is believed that these people attract accidents and violence.

This is a whole other level of either cluelessness/stupidity and/or Deplorableness. You do not want 'bullshit', but would have went for a Conman? She's weighing in a year plus into the administration. It isn't like she is want to stick to what she said.
Unreal.

(3,635 posts)remember that only 42% of white women voters voted for Hillary, potentially the first woman president who has always stood for women's rights, 53% voted proudly for the Orange P-Grabber, and 5% threw their vote away to third party.
I voted for Trump because America has struggled with simple economics and needs a change, said Lizzie Whitmire, 35, a Catholic mother of two from Dallas. I also want someone who is angry about terrorism and radical Islam.
After the publication of a video that showed Trump boasting about how he could get away with kissing and groping women because he was famous, followed by accusations of sexual assault from 12 different women, the received wisdom was that Trump had lost the female vote.
But white women who voted for Trump downplayed his behavior to different degrees. Some said they believed he fundamentally respected women. Others said they did not, but thought his sexism would not undermine his ability to carry out the change they wanted.
Jones called Trump an imperfect person, like all of us. She said: I do believe he does like women. He cares for his daughters and wife and female employees. He does respect women.

(44,228 posts)I would like to apologise to anybody I have offended in a recent interview with the Guardian relating to the American President. The question caught me off guard. As a Canadian, I regret answering this unexpected question without giving my response more context (1/4)

I am passionately against discrimination of any kind and hope its clear from the choices I have made, and the people I stand with, that I do not hold any common moral beliefs with the current President (2/4)

I was trying to explain, in response to a question about the election, that my limited understanding was that the President talked to a portion of America like an accessible person they could relate to, as he was NOT a politician (3/4)

My answer was awkward, but certainly should not be taken as representative of my values nor does it mean I endorse him. I make music to bring people together. My path will always be one of inclusivity, as my history shows. (4/4)

(18,837 posts)It was actually more of an act of "assembly" than "creation," but it began with his belief that his "base" would be stupid enough to believe the "birther" thing if he just repeated it with "confidence" and "authority."
I'm all for free speech.
And hopefully, Ms. Twain learned something from this experience. It's not that she's not free to discuss politics. It's the fact that right now, she's not very good at it.
I don't buy the whole "Yes, Trump has lied and cheated and been adulterous and has shown a profound disrespect for women, but we don't need a choir boy, we need a successful businessman who can run America like a successful business" line of CRAP.
Seems like she was dancing around the edges of that, and it bit her.
Maybe she should sit this one out and stick to music.

(10,611 posts)Saying blunt, unfiltered crap is NOT equivalent to honesty.
Unfortunately, the investment in removing the critical thinking skills and attention span from the American public has paid off (and that applies to people like the Canadian Twain as well).

(1,377 posts)CBS Sunday Morning had her on a year or so ago. I think it was Lee Cowan interviewing her. They went to one of her island paradises and Cowan basically asked if she ever pinches herself, thinking she was dreaming. Her answer - she seemed incredulous and basically replied, "No. I worked hard for all of this. I deserve it."
I don't care how talented you are or how hard you've worked, you think you'd be humbled to live like a queen when so many people have nothing.
