(6,985 posts)When some of them are interviewed they say they are repubs. How in God's name can anyone who relies on public funds vote repub?

(58,785 posts)By far most Republicans believe in universal public education funded by taxes.
That magnificent 2-mile-long march of conservatives and liberals united in common purpose is exactly what our nation needs. And a lot more of it.
United we stand against our common enemies, divided we fall before our common enemies.
So to speak.

(156,297 posts)Those numbers should get the attention of the State Capitol folks.
According to local news coverage, our Republican governor and Republican majority legislature went on recess early on during the rally

(39,698 posts)Our local Fox affiliate station does a really decent job reporting the local news in a fairly unbiased fashion. Unfortunately negotiations are underway for Sinclair Broadcasting to acquire that station and things will change for the worse.

(7,944 posts)And I think most of them are what we think of as standard "neutral" evening news. That what makes the "must read" Sinclair statement so heinous. Many of them didn't appreciate having to do that at all.

(54,798 posts)I have marched with my local teachers union at least a dozen times over my career as a union rep for my school site.
"Teachers Build The Future" (that is our union slogan)and the GOP destroys it (that is MY add-on).

(37,648 posts)(just kidding!) That's a lot of teachers. The stream of teachers looks like ants from a distance. You know how ants stream out to go somewhere? Amazing.

We wont have teachers unless a teacher can support a family. Too hard a job for peanuts

(2,113 posts)Teachers can probably make as much or more money in other jobs, so why not?

(114 posts)At the right restaurant, you could make as much money waiting tables as you could as an Arizona teacher
SergeStorms
(20,200 posts)many are waiting tables (a noble undertaking) because of nationwide school budget cutbacks. Even at twice their annual salary they deserve and earn every damned cent.
jes06c
(114 posts)Even charter schools are beginning to support this, which is kind of a surprise because a lot of the charter schools in Arizona are run by right wing groups, and push a conservative ideology.
Then again, in Arizona teachers at charter schools make even less than their public school counterparts.
