In that call to Fox & Friends yesterday, Trump said this, as related in The New Yorker:

After enough time spent in that limbo they gave him an 11:00 pm cable news slot which is still a big come down from his previous prime time NBC news broadcast anchor slot.

If Joy is the victim of hacking as she claims she deserves a promotion. If she is outright lying about that then I expect she will suffer consequences, which is what actually happened to Edwards at the time. But like him, even in the worst case, she should get another chance.

And, to repeat, my position on this is that Joy should be given the benefit of the doubt, as long as there is any doubt. I would prefer for her show to continue on MSNBC and for her career to advance further

17. Let's compare and contrast

Brian Williams apologized for lying, was suspended for 6 months and demoted. I would argue he needed to do more to demonstrate what changed, but once he was determined to have lied he was punished

Joy Reid apologized for the homophobic Charlie Crist comments and that was it. She wasn't suspended or demoted. She hasn't been suspended by MSNBC even though her claim of hacking strains credibility and so far exactly zero evidence has been put forward to support it. I suspect that if she is lying, she will be fired. Partially because her crime would be worse (both the cover up but also lying about homophobic behavior is worse than lying about something that only impacts the individual) but yes also because she has a much lower profile - some of which no doubt is due to racism and sexism.
