They don't even try to hide it. Republicans in Congress display betrayal like it was one of those medals on Sebastian Gorka's alpha male chest. It's party over country, each and every time, without a hint of conscience, without a scrid of principle, without even the tiniest fragment of standardized norms. It's a Republican-sponsored national crap shoot where adherence to the Constitution and the rule of law is optional, not guaranteed.
Recusal no longer means recusal. The Daily Press Briefing is a liar lying. The "leader of the free world" makes the world cringe. Beauty pageant contestants aren't safe around our president, neither are refugees or people who complain about police brutality. It's not a beautiful day in the neighborhood. Paul Ryan just fired the chaplain. Devin Nunes prefered a sneaky midnight run to the White House over an honest search for the truth about Russian collusion. Kris Korbach ran a voter fraud scam while other Republicans worked on new ways to suppress the vote. The EPA head hates the EPA. Bolton loves war. Pruitt loves sirens and flashing lights, Pence hates anyone with a rainbow flag. What a mess.
I'll admit I'm one of those old Democrats that want our party's leaders to line up at a bank of microphones with a courageous instant response. I want someone to highlight the peril we're in, the unethical, underhanded practices of almost every Republican in Congress and the reasons we can no longer allow this to continue.
Veterans are waiting for a functioning VA. Residents of Flint are waiting for safe drinking water. Crumbling bridges are waiting for repair. Schools are waiting for textbooks for each child. Drug addicts are waiting for rehabilitation services. Children in Foster Care are waiting, unemployed coal miners are waiting, teenagers contemplating suicide are waiting, citizens who don't want to be killed or maimed by an AR-15 are waiting, piles of used rape kits are waiting.
What we're witnessing is not a little chipping away here and there, it's a purposeful onslaught propelled by overt betrayal. It must be stopped.

(9,302 posts)I'm with you there. We can't leave it for Tom Steyer and Michael Avenatti. Trump should have been destroyed already, but increasingly, it seems that this is new normal.

(10,721 posts)Rotten to the core people. Not people who accept facts but interpret them differently...and have a different view on the role of government. No, these are just horrible people.
And Democrats need to shout that from the rooftops.

(508 posts)...when virtually every politician in the country is at the mercy of the rich from whom the pols keep begging money.
The politicians sell themselves to the highest bidder.
It makes the work of people like Stormy Daniels look honorable.

Please send it to newspapers and to news talk hosts on MSNBC.
Many of us, probably you as well, have seen this coming for decades, so we know this isnt sudden, but for the first time theyre not bothering to hide it and thats what makes it seem pretty recent. After so many years were seeing that politicians like McConnell and Paul Ryan arent just cold hearted. Now we know theyre completely corrupt also.
We cant allow this to happen without a fight.
