The more Donnie reveals his appalling deficiencies as a human being and as a president without launching a missile, the better. This does not take intelligence or knowledge to understand, which makes it something of a missile itself aimed at the mental barriers of millions of conservatives.

(8,515 posts)So watching a paralympics event if it inspires me to work harder to physically better my own physical problems.. Thats a bad thing? I am driving bigotry? What the hell?

(13,390 posts)People with disabilities strive for some sense of ordinariness but with those stereotypes it's never good enough in the eyes of nondisabled people. But, people have to be charity cases or superhuman impressive to be valued enough to be useful to no disabled people. Either to Pat themselves on the back for giving or for finding something redeeming in the grotesque. Trump managed to do both in that statement.

A few years ago, I was at the gym on a treadmill, portable oxygen, cannula and all. After I finished and was readying to leave, a woman walked up to me and told me she found me "inspiring," claiming my presence and diligence "inspired" her to push herself further when she felt like she wanted to stop.
I didn't take offense at all. In fact, it made me feel good. Moving around in public with some visual indication of a disability can make you very self-conscious. In a setting like a gym, it's even more so just by all the vagaries involved.
After she told me that, I didn't feel as out of place. I didn't feel the "wow, what's wrong with that guy" stares in the same way.
EDIT TO ADD:
I wasn't exactly running, but utilizing the treadmill to walk at a blistering 1.9 miles per hour. With some of the worst combination of heat and humidity, it's impossible for me to walk outside for a major portion of the year.

(5,820 posts)Is not worthy of his attention. And might even bring on an insult like he did when mocking the journalist. He really is beneath contempt and to think he represents our country just sickens me. I know he is a sick man. He has displayed his issues for his whole life. But damn. How did we sink so low as to have THIS representing us? He must be removed. This cannot be allowed to go on. What do we have to do to make our congress do the right thing? How far will he be allowed to go before even they will say enough is enough??
