so you will remember.
Fortunately, Amy Siskind has kept such a list, divided into each week since Trump was illegally installed in the WH.
I urge everyone to check it out...it is an on-going process.

(9,762 posts)Food stuff and material goods and fuel. Other than that, and the pressure to be part of the war effort one way or another (see alone in Berlin) I suppose life was mostly bearable for the majority.

(60,010 posts)The classic explanation for how most people lived was been written by Martin Myer.
"They Thought They Were Free",
It can be found all over the internet, btw.
He interviewed " average" Germans after the war. Essentially they said it happened like it is now..slowly, gradually, they got used to the water getting warmer and warmer, so to speak. Plus, they reported the distractions of daily life, going to work, etc. The
only news was newspapers which were eventually controlled by the state, like Fox News, maybe some radio, tv not being around then.
Hitler used "fake news" and attacks on journalists, exactly as Trump is doing now. and John McCain famously pointed out that every fascist country first took over the media.
Sinclair Broadcasting, anyone??
As someone pointed out not too long ago: "if you ever wondered what the Germans did when Hitler rose to power,
realize it is exactly what you are doing now".

(60,010 posts)My increasingly frantic refrain has been....don't put all your eggs into the Nov. election basket. It could be too late.
I find it frightening how quickly and easily Trump's handlers just created instant peace between North/South Korea, and then started the refrain of his deserving a Peace Prize.
That only took a few weeks, and yet, both Korean leaders are obediently following the script.
How much power do you have to have to make something like THAT happen??

Fear is Greeds best friend.
Fear of our children and grandchildren suffering for our political sins keeps us in our place, am I right?
A study of Mao history quickly reveals how the "children of" were imprisoned and died because of their elders anti-Maoist behaviors.
We seek to be invisible in our divisible States of America.
What a sad state we are in, my friends!
THE PRESS IS OUR HOPE! We need to use it wisely.

(4,757 posts)The four corporations that control a majority of what we hear and see on TV failed us.
If they did their fucking jobs, trump would never had made it out of the primaries.
They wanted the geek show and are laughing all the way to the bank as the "news junkies" watch this unfold.
Two words.

I will just ignore your nonsense about fear. Fear does not play into my opinion.

(2,434 posts)damn. Really frightening when you start reading week to week to week. Makes me nauseous and I haven't even gotten halfway thru. Thanks for posting this - I think. May we be more vigilant than others in history, lest we repeat some of the worst of times.

(7,404 posts)The condo association she be my daughter lives floated for comment a possible Master Deed change to block criminals from either buying or renting a property.
My first reaction was to define criminal. How far back do you look. Do you do a national search and how can you tell if the Willie Brown looking to buy is one of the 300 names on the list. Does that include a DUI conviction or only a violent crime. How do you even write such a policy, keeping in mind the uneven nature of policing and other biases

(10,844 posts)It's an important reminder of what's going on, every single f**king day. The erosion is going to kill us all unless we stop it and say NO in loud, strident voices. We can say that in our protests. We can say that in blog posts and conversations. And most definitely, we can say it with our votes.
No more. Not one inch, one step, not one scintilla.
Vote like your lives were at stake. Because they are.
