Some current and former officials said they expect Kelly to leave by July, and that Trump and Kelly seem to have tired of each other.

WASHINGTON White House chief of staff John Kelly has eroded morale in the West Wing in recent months with comments to aides that include insulting the president's intelligence and casting himself as the savior of the country, according to eight current and former White House officials.
The officials said Kelly portrays himself to Trump administration aides as the lone bulwark against catastrophe, curbing the erratic urges of a president who has a questionable grasp on policy issues and the functions of government. He has referred to Trump as "an idiot" multiple times to underscore his point, according to four officials who say they've witnessed the comments.
Three White House spokespeople said they don't believe it's accurate that Kelly called the president an "idiot," adding that none of them has ever heard him do that or otherwise use that word.
Officials said Kelly's public image as a retired four-star general instilling discipline on a chaotic White House and an impulsive president belies what they describe as the undisciplined and indiscreet approach he's employed as chief of staff. The private manner aides describe may shed new light on why Kelly now finds himself just nine months into the job grappling with diminished influence and a drumbeat of questions about how long he'll remain at the White House.

A video unearthed by the South Florida Sun-Sentinel of the April 10, 2015, event preserved Wilsons speech. While it does portray Wilson speaking animatedly and indulging in some braggadocio -- she is known as a colorful, outspoken politician with a soft spot for fashionable hats -- Kelly mischaracterized her remarks in significant ways.
The effort she bragged about was initially requested by the FBI itself, and her actions were made in service of honoring the memory of the two slain agents. She also shared the credit, saying it could not have been accomplished without the help of her Republican colleagues, including then-House Speaker John Boehner of Ohio and Florida Sen. Marco Rubio.
Perhaps most notable, the video doesnt show Wilson boasting about securing money for the building, which had been obtained before she was even in Congress.
The video shows Wilson telling the audience that shortly before the dedication of a new FBI building in Miramar, Fla., the FBI approached her to see whether she could help name the building after FBI agents Benjamin Grogan and Jerry Dove, who were killed during a 1986 shootout with bank robbers south of Miami. Naming federal buildings is typically a responsibility of Congress.

(6,613 posts)When Comey's book came out and spilled the beans that the only reason Kelly is still there was because Comey told him to stay put....I thought for sure he would be under a lot of fire.
Instead, he disappeared and weathered the storm out. Now, boom, its brought up again.
Now if memory serves me correctly, Bannon said it was Javanka who pushed him out. Kelly no doubt has bridled their access to papa dump. Hell Jared lost access to sensitive info because of Kelly. I'm sure he didn't like that and whoever he's serving as well.

Watch the Netflix (I think) series on Hitler's Circle of Evil.

The infighting occurs when people grapple for power.
When people are struggling to help others, there is still competition, but the infighting gives way to trying to achieve good things for others. Besides the kinds of people who are attracted to altruistic efforts tend to be less competitive than those who fight to get to the top of the heap.

Dennison added that the President 'is, like, really really smart and a very stable genius at that.' (12,448 posts)But I'm really tired of him casting himself as a savior who will reign in Trump's worst impulses, and thinking he's the only hope for the country. He hasn't done it in a year; he won't do it today or tomorrow. He can whine and complain about Trump all he wants, but he's ultimately useless.
