I attended the WHCD last night. Donald Trump has so poisoned the atmosphere by attacking the disabled, gold star parents, Muslims, Mexicans, Blacks, women, the press, the rule of law that a comedian who simply tells the truth is offensive? Shes joking. Hes not. - Rob Reiner
For eight shining years. We once believed we had a shot. A man that loved America and her people. A beautiful man that touched many of our souls. Such a good man.
Where once it never rained till after sundown,
By eight a.m. the morning fog had flown...
Don't let it be forgot
That once there was a spot
For one brief shining moment that was known
As Camelot.
Was it perfection? No. Yet for one brief shining moment we had a shot at moving us forward and not taking us backwards.
This takes us backwards. In trump speak. MAGA.
Sigh.

(6,831 posts)Pete Souza, the White House photographer for the Obama years put out a book full of beautiful pictures of the President, the First Family and many of the best pictures that he had taken. I have the book, and whenever I get really depressed - which has been about every other day since the election - I take it out and page through it. Get yourself a copy. Run, don't walk to your nearest bookseller and buy it. It's titled, "Obama: an Intimate Portrait." You can thank me later.

They can not take these memories away from us.
And they should not take our future from us.

(15,216 posts)When I was a young man, douba-douba-douba-doo....
No, seriously. When I was a young man I had a wonderful Scottish girlfriend (Hazel - not giving away anything after all these years.) She taught me many things including haggis, kippers, well-aged butter, bubbly, thick-cut bacon, clotted cream.
Don't we all have memories of times past that can't be relived but can be re-enjoyed?

But the way is always forward. Nothing is ever going to bring the first part back, and the second part will never be defeated without focus and effort.
