MADISON, Wis. (AP) A Republican Senate candidate in Wisconsin said Wednesday that he questions the cognitive thought process of military veterans who decide to be Democrats.
Kevin Nicholson, a former Marine, made the remarks on WTMJ-AM radio. Host Steve Scaffidi asked Nicholson about comments from Nicholsons primary opponent, Leah Vukmir, that military service like his isnt the same as serving in the Legislature as a conservative.
Nicholson responded that serving in the military is inherently conservative.
Ill tell you what: Those veterans that are out there in the Democrat (sic) Party, I question their cognitive thought process because the bottom line is, theyre signing up to defend the constitution that their party is continually dragging through the mud, he said.
Wisconsin Democratic Party spokeswoman Melanie Conklin declined to immediately comment. Major Democratic Super PAC American Bridge issued a news release saying Nicholson cant fathom that his fellow veterans might hold viewpoints different from his own.

(8,908 posts)I could swear that the last story I read about legislation being made to satisfy religious values it was Republican legislators doing it. Which "well regulated militia" does he think regular American citizens all belong to that gives them the right to own AR-15s? Which party again was it that pushed the idea that business entities had the same rights as individuals and that money was speech? So now our entire legislative process is bought and paid for by the rich. I don't remember that in the Democrats agenda.
As for cognitive thought process, I would think it makes more sense to question those vets who vote for politicians that want to kill their VA by privatizing it. You know, Republican vets.
You know, as a democratic vet this is just so offensive, and so full of it. I don't see any Republicans defending the Constitution. Is that what Nunes and his cronies were doing when they closed the House investigation with no findings?
