Trump couldn't state why this woman won "Teacher Of The Year".

He couldn't bring his racist ass to credit this year's award winner because she teaches English to immigrants and refuges. It's almost as if the NEA is successfully trolling the president, but I'm sure Ms Manning was overwhelmingly deserving. Even so, Trump proved that his tendency toward pettiness does not draw a line at lauding selfless public servants.

He even had the word "citizens" in all caps on his three teleprompters to stress that he doesn't appreciate this educator's work. It was inserted within a generic speech that thanks teachers in general:

WATCH: Trump presents Teacher of the Year award to educator who leads classroom for teenage refugees

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump on Wednesday presented the National Teacher of the Year award to a Washington state educator who leads a classroom for teenage refugees.

But Trump did not mention the kinds of students Mandy Manning teaches during a White House ceremony held to honor her and other winners. Manning teaches English to new refugee and immigrant students at the Newcomer Center at Joel E. Ferris High School in Spokane.

“Teachers like Mandy play a vital role in the well-being of our children, the strength of our communities and the success of our nation,” Trump said. “The job of a teacher is not only to instruct the next generation of workers but the next generations of citizens to teach our children to care for others, to think for themselves, to love their country, to be proud of our history and to be true pillars of their families and their communities.”

The word “citizens” was written in all-caps in the president’s prepared remarks while the other words were lowercased. The remarks were projected on three teleprompters in the room for him to read.

Continued here to read of her accomplishments. You certainly won't hear it from The White House:

It should be noted that Ms Manning brought boxes of letters from her students explaining their hopes and desires to one day be called Americans.

She's finally recognized by her peers for her devotion to children and gets the award from the nations oldest dysfunctional child.

At least she got to deliver the message Trump was apparently told about: hundreds of letters from her students pleading with the president to find his cold dark heart. i hope DeVos does some searching as well.

I've a family full of educators from Hs to college. (me as well.) It's a difficult profession when you're underpaid and under appreciated. Americas public schools still are amongst the best in the nation and teachers are leading the way in marches and protests. STILL TEACHING how it's done. Modeling good behavior and peaceful protest. Thanks for replying. Have a good weekend.

Among the many problems he poses to our country and our collective future is - too many people still seem somehow okay with giving him way too many “second chances”.

for many reasons. First of all, he hates women and the majority of teachers are women. He doesn't like anyone who has normal values (like education). He thinks any public service is a detriment and most teachers are public servants. I recall that as a kid he was a mean bully, even to teachers and was sent away to military school afterwards. I am sure the school teachers in Queens were very grateful.

"When I look at myself in the first grade and I look at myself now, I’m basically the same,” the 70-year-old presumptive Republican nominee once told a biographer. “The temperament is not that different.”

...and therefore the biggest enemy of the GOP.

The biggest union among those donors are teachers. I know a good number of educators, and not a one supports this president. None.

Breaking that union has been the goal behind charter school vouchers and "No Child Left Behind". Once the govt successfully transplants enough students into private schools the public schools can be shuttered with mass layoffs and dwindling union dues.

After enough schools have fallen to financially cripple the democratic party into seeking more corporate funding, the govt can end the voucher program and tell local taxpayers they can fund their own broken system without federal assistance. Most property owners wont be able to vote for that, so another mission accomplished for the Mercers. Rich kids go to college while poor ones go to work.

I know and agree. We had about 7 GOP teachers out of about 35 at my site. They never supported the union yet they surely liked it when we got better benefits after tough negotiations.

Something like he was the dumbest SOB he ever had in a class. I'm sure his teachers K-12 felt much the same.

and called him "a little shit". He used to throw rocks at a neighbor's playpen in the back yard too. You should read the article. Detention was even called "DT" after him.

"At a 2009 reunion, Kass said, the teacher, Charles Walker, told him that Trump had never struck him. But Walker, who died last year, claimed no affection for Trump. In the final stages of his life, according to his son, Charles Walker learned that Trump was considering a presidential bid.
“When that kid was 10,” Peter Walker recalled his father telling family members gathered at his bedside, “even then he was a little s---.”
