it seems guns (which aren't the problem we're told) and their responsible owners can't get in

why are the guns being oppressed, they're just intimate objects?

and that you probably meant "inanimate objects". But then I thought about it, and realized you probably meant just what you said. Guns probably are intimate objects to some of their fondest owners.
