(58,752 posts)He ran for president as a Democrat, endorsed an Independent candidate for Lt. Gov here in California, is meddling in Democratic congressional primaries, running as an Independent in Vermont and may run for president again as a Democrat. Is this a person we should trust?

(42,862 posts)... I wonder how his constituents feel about being neglected. You know, since he's the Senator from Vermont and all, seems like he'd give them the lion's share of his time.

(83,730 posts)Gearing for a 2020 run.
If my Elizabeth Warren spent all her time out of State and out of Senate. I for one would be pissed. I worked and voted for her to first and foremost represent the people in Massachusetts.
Who campaigns so many years out? And now backing Independents over Democrats.

I'd be pretty angry if I lived in a state where my Senator cared more about the residents of a state a thousand miles away.

(42,862 posts)If my senator did that, I'd feel cheated.
I'd feel like s/he was putting his/her OWN interests ahead of the voters in my state. Especially THIS early in the process.
I've always felt that politicians who are PERPETUALLY "fund-raising" and CONTINUALLY smearing potential rivals and ENDLESSLY campaigning for their next position, really are not dong a good job of competently fulfilling the promises and obligations of their CURRENT position.
All I'm trying to say is that it seems like the honest thing to do would be to focus on one's constituents FIRST.
But that's just me. I guess I'm just old-fashioned.

(30,733 posts)meeting with constituents. I saw him at a Cubs game, too. Durbin is one of the most accessible Senators I have seen.
If Senator Duckworth is spending a bit less time on office hours right now, that is all right. She has a new baby.
Bernie needs to go home.
