...I think it could be transformative.
They could call them 'untrue' or say, "Mr. President, that's just false."
It might catch on.

(14,950 posts)They could even phrase is as a question: "Why did you just make a false statement?" or "Do you know what you just said is false?"
I think some reporters are hesitant to fact-check him live because the way he just bowls over and through others in conversation and interrupts/talks over people makes it more likely to say something seemingly erroneous yourself.

(82,849 posts)He's held a grand total of one press conference in his 15 months in office. For some reason, the media don't appear to care one whit about it. Although back during the 2016 campaign, various news outlets and reporters (e.g., The Washington Post and Chris Cillizza) ran a real time clock on how long it had been since candidate Clinton had held a news conference. Apparently, the American people don't care about what the President has to say, because the news outlets sure aren't demanding that Trump hold a press conference.
So, the opportunities for a reporter to call out the President's lies to his face don't happen. It's really weird how none of them seem all that anxious to demand such an opportunity.

The technology is, literally, in your hands. Why not use it? Especially with these trump clowns. They seem to be oblivious to things recorded and posted on internets.

(9,161 posts)Peter Alexander of NBC called Trump out on his lie that he had the largest electoral college victory since Reagan. Alexander read him the numbers for Obama's two victories -- both of which were larger than Trump's. When Trump responded he was talking about Republicans, Alexander read him Poppy Bush's numbers, and then asked why Americans should trust him.
Trump responded that he was "given that information."
