The judge has not ruled. A judge frequently will ask harsh questions of a side, and that fact doesn't necessarily mean he's planning to rule against that side.
Is it proper for a President to be commenting on an ongoing criminal matter?
Of course it's not. That question is rhetorical.
I'm surprised he didn't offer the judge a seat on the Supreme Court.
