Don Lemon: 'It's My Obligation as a Journalist' to Call Trump 'Racist'

CNN’s Don Lemon says the evidence of President Trump‘s racism is incontrovertible, and it’s a journalistic responsibility to call it out.

Lemon is a keynote speaker at Variety’s Entertainment & Technology NYC Summit today, and he was asked about the time when he called Trump “racist” over the president’s “shithole” countries remarks. Lemon said he didn’t take those words lightly, but “the evidence is out there,” and calling Trump racist is as difficult for Lemon as it was when he first called POTUS a liar.

“It’s tough when you have more respect for the office than the person who’s sitting in the office,” Lemon said. “All you have to do is look at the evidence.” As Lemon cycled through Trump’s worst racial controversies, he said that even if people cannot grasp the president’s racism, they must know “he’s certainly racist-adjacent”:

“If you have the evidence that shows you, that leads you to nothing else but this president being racist, then I feel it’s my obligation as a journalist to say it. On that night I said it, and I don’t regret saying it. I believe that to be true.”

weren't you in the crowd that created this Frankenstein and his mal-administration of sycophants and yes and bagmen/women? Never should have had this following one of the most competent people as POTUS, administrating 8 years of ship of state guidance while maintaining the peace. Everything President Obama did in administering these united states I did not agree with. Yet my disagreement with President Obama, politically, pale to insignificance in this current storm of possible treason, using the presidency to make LOTS of money, illicit se pre-POTUS), no telling what's going on now and on and on. No wonder Melania never smiles, except when talking to President Obama.
