Iowa Governor sets her state back to Ancient Egyptian mentality by signing Fetal Heartbeat Bill.

.

Iowa's Christian throwback governor, Kim Reynolds, is applying pseudo-science as a means to challenge Roe v. Wade.

Her mindset strikes an eerie parallel to Ancient Egyptians, who believed that the heart was the center of the being. They had no concept of the human brain, so during the embalming process, the brain was sucked or scooped out of the nostril and thrown away, instead of being preserved in a jar for the afterlife.

What Reynolds is proposing is tantamount to those who want to keep a body alive after brain activity ceases. The heart is one of the first organs to form, and does not entirely rely on the brain to function, as it has its own internal control mechanism to beat. The higher organs form at a much later date.

Iowa governor signs so-called ‘heartbeat’ abortion ban into law.

Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds signed into law on Friday a bill outlawing abortion after a fetal heartbeat is detected, which often occurs at six weeks and before a woman even realizes she is pregnant, and Reynolds acknowledged the likelihood of a court challenge.

The measure, which Iowa’s Republican-controlled state legislature passed on Wednesday, is the most restrictive abortion ban in the United States.

“I understand and I anticipate that this will likely be challenged in court, and that courts may even put a hold on the law until it reaches the Supreme Court,”, Reynolds, also a Republican, said at Friday’s bill-signing, surrounded by children.

“However, this is bigger than just a law,” she added. “This is about life. I’m not going to back down from who I am or what I believe in.”

So why not enact an unconstitutional law that will take a long time to wind through the courts and cost a lot of money and time in its futile defense. They'll pay for it out of the bonanza they get from the sale of soybeans to China! Oh, wait, that's right . . .

What do you say, Iowa? Is this the stuff you want to be spending your tax dollars on? Useless tilting at expensive legislative windmills?
