I am not saying all Republican appointed judges put party and power above the rule of law. It only takes a few, and then democracy is dead. For example. Citizen's United, and Bush ~vs~ Gore. And then there's U.S. District Judge T.S. Ellis attacking Mueller sounding like Sean Hannity. An old psychopath weasel who never had a problem with prosecutors throwing the book at poor folk.
People like Trump and Kushner break the law on an hourly basis. Holding them accountable is "too much trouble". It is much easier to convict poor people who can't defend themselves, and then lock them up in warehouses. The masters of the universe get to run their companies, breaking laws at will, and if they get caught, their stockholders pay a fine. They then go on to break more laws.
We Do Not Live In A Democracy.
It pretty much ended when Ford pardoned Nixon.
When money trumps power, literally, we live in a banana republic, and folks, we're there.

But we can stop the judges. If it's not too late.

We are in the fight of our lives to beat back this threat to our democracy.
On The Hugh Hewitt Show, Mitch McConnell says he is "making a generational change in our country" by confirming conservative judges
McConnell: "By appointing and confirming these strict constructionists to the courts who are in their late 40s or early 50s ... we're making a generational change in our country"

(30,481 posts)One of which was a completely understandable ruling. Additionally, put the blame for Citizens United where it belongs. Congress. We can achieve what we want when it comes to campaign finance laws. The BCRA was not perfectly written. Lets try again and next time take the bipartisan part out.
Let the system work. The reaction from a couple of sentences is amazing.

(2,032 posts)It's not all right wing judges fault, but the jails are full of poor people, and not wall street types who commit far worse crimes.

Electing Trump was a transformative moment in this country's history. He and his right-wing cronies are truly dangerous.
