OK. I get it. Let's call Caucasians "pinkpipo," not "wypipo."
"Pinkies" could serve as the short form, perhaps. Problem solved!

1. Why do we need terms for each of us. My wife the other day had an idea that race was an invention
of man. We are all "people" she said.
I've read some histories of indigenous people in this country and the word the used to describe themselves was translated to mean "the people". Indians in the central valley of CA were called dried meat by the Indians in the mountains because they made jerky. |

7. It's not really race. It's skin tone.
Humans have a wide range of skin tones, from the pallor of people of Scandinavian descent on the first sunny day of Spring to the deepest purplish black. We are all humans. The shade of our skin, due to varying degrees of melanin, is one distinguishing feature we all have. It's part of our description, and nothing more.
Except for some very small, self-sheltered communities, we see pretty much all of those skin tones on a daily basis. That we see different skin tones as anything other than a single descriptive feature is the problem. That those who are in the majority in the United States think there is some reason for pride in being pink is very strange, really. We're all humans. We can interbreed freely, regardless of our skin tones. We're all the same species. We're all the same. We just don't treat each other as if we were. It's astonishingly stupid of us. |

20. Let's quit with the lables. I live in Santa Maria. I think you are on the Central Coast too.
Santa Maria is 70% Hispanic. I am Anglo. The same dynamics go on here as anywhere people are minorities. Here I am a minority.
No proud pink folks here. |

15. If I remember my brief experience in Anthropology...
most primitive societies tend to call themselves some version of "the people" and call others something else.
![]() Humans are tribal by nature. We collect together in various kinds of organizations, using a wide variety of methods to govern ourselves. The distrust of "the other" is kind of ingrained in us and takes active effort to overcome, while being exploited by "leaders" seeking power. The human "races" are intellectual constructs based primarily on skin tone and some other physical traits that have developed over the centuries in reaction to environmental and anthropological pressures. |

5. I'm still not understanding "wipipo"
I googled it but it still doesn't make much sense and I refuse to spend any more time trying to understand it. So if someone wouldn't mind giving just a concise definition: what constitutes a "wipipo"? Who uses the term and to whom is it directed?

6. There was a very long thread about this yesterday. I think several meanings were given along with
various harsh descriptions of folks who don't except the meanings given.

8. I saw some of the threads but it's so much to sift through
But if there is no defining answer for this term, then I will just ignore it. It will probably disappear in time like other things like "errmergerd" and "dilly dilly"

27. Yep, saw them all and they are very long...
But since it seems impossible for it to be explained in a sentence or two or if it has different meanings to different people - I won't bother with it.
I can't see myself using the term but thought if I heard it in conversation, I wouldn't be so "unhip". But I'll just stay unhip. |

I like mice, too. I don't mind if one eats the other, but I'm not going to hand a baby mouse or rat to a snake. Can't do it.
