‘I would like you to stop lying’: CNN’s Tapper confronts manic Kellyanne Conway over Trump lies about Daniels payoff

In a typical confrontational exchange between CNN host Jake Tapper and White House adviser Kellyanne Conway, an exasperated Tapper finally cut in on the filibustering aide to President Donald Trump to say he was tired of the lying. As the State of the Union host tried to get a straight answer out of Conway over the timeline of when Trump became aware that hush money was being paid to adult film star Stormy Daniels by his personal attorney, Michael Cohen, Conway continually deflected by talking about job numbers and complaining about how the network covers Trump.

“Do you think his job includes lying to the American people because he continues to do so?” Tapper asked.

“He does many things,” Conway shot back. “You just want that to go viral and you want to say President Trump and lie in the same sentence.”

“No, I would like you to stop lying,” Tapper interrupted.

If the behavior persists and they have to cut her microphone over a certain number of times, just call time and END the interview. If the behavior continues over a specified number of interviews, just drop that person from the guest lists. If they reward the bad behavior by not calling them out, cutting the mic or just not having them on, the bad behavior will continue. Kellyanne NEEDS the exposure like a fish needs water. Cut her off from air time. Get her where she lives.

I admire (that's one word for it) Conway's stamina and unwavering determination to deflect discussion of the President's credibility to the "wonderful" accomplishments he's taking credit for. But I find it exhausting to listen to Conway for more than 2 or 3 minutes.

Credit Jake Tapper with not falling into the trap of trying to address the rapid flow of new diversionary topics she introduces.

I'd like to see more media figures call out, and quash the Gish gallup and overtalking. Republicans have normalized these forms of toxic discourse. We need to call them out so that they are obvious, and to normalize appropriate responses to them.
