President Donald Trumps lead attorney, Rudy Giuliani, on Tuesday revealed that the president has discussed invoking his Fifth Amendment right against testifying in special counsel Robert Muellers Russia investigation.
While speaking to NBCs Kristen Welker, Giuliani insisted that the president wanted him to do more interviews even though his recent media blitz has been criticized for damaging his clients case.
The president is encouraging me to do more [interviews], Giuliani insisted. I try to keep them under control. I just did one on Sunday even though we had about four requests. You know, the president feels that the TV interviews have organized his supporters and those who understand the way in which hes being treated badly treated in this situation from the very beginning.
Giuliani went on to confirm that the president has discussed pleading the Fifth with his legal team, but said that he doesnt want to if its not necessary.
