investigated by prosecutors there. Trump can't pardon there can he? Or does the investigation go back to Mueller? It was $500,000 from an oligarch paid after the election.

(56,262 posts)Not an expert, but bribery of federal officials, federal campaign violations, fec disclosure violations, etc. are all federal crimes.
It's conceivable that the Russian money could be considered income to Donnie taxable under New York law, so mayyybe there's a tax evasion problem. But even that's a stretch, imho.

The Cohen crimes in NY will stay in NY.
The only thing changed is the AG, & all those working on the NY/Cohen, Trump cases under NYAG Schneiderman remain in place.
There is a deadline however, with the AG election, & you can be sure Trump/Cohen will stall this out until a permanent AG is seated.
They know Trump has zero pardon power in NY State, & that is key to the whole game being played there.
