If we are fortunate, the snake and the porn star may bring down Donald Trump, and they wll deserve our profound thanks for that. But presidential material? Not even a little bit.

(33,992 posts)He's brash. He's media savvy. He enjoys the high life. He revels in antagonizing opponents.
In short, Trump may have met his match in this Newport Beach lawyer whose client, now America's best-known stripper, is suing the president to break free of a deal that bars her from discussing what she says was a one-night stand with Trump in 2006.
With a swagger worthy of the young Trump who barged his way into New York's tabloids decades ago, Avenatti has spent weeks shuttling among Manhattan TV studios to taunt the president and his fixer Michael Cohen.

While he is certainly giving Trump & Co. a run for their money, and I'll be eternally grateful if he takes Trump down, that doesn't make him presidential material in my book. Especially since some of his showmanship reminded me too much of Trump - even before this article came out.

(11,410 posts)Unlike Trump, this man CAN deliver. Sounds good to me.
I have no problem with swagger. Our leaders could use a
bit more confidence.... as long as they can back up the swagger.

(10,862 posts)means Pence as President, it will be a Pyrrhic victory to remove Trump.
He actually believes in his bullshit.
As an Eclesiastical Dominionist, he welcomes Armageddon.
Let that sink in.

(10,862 posts)I love it because it is so well written and acted.
I hate it because of how it scares the hell outta me of what we could become.
Did you see when that comedienne compared Sarah Suckabee to Lydia from the Handmaids Tale. Sarahs face was priceless! I laughed so damn hard.

(58,785 posts)Avenatti's been a talking head for some time. This is a nice advance to that career. Maybe he'll get his own show someday out of it.

(58,598 posts)One of the reasons Avenatti is "winning" is because he is almost as much of a snake as Trump.
I'm a bit tired of media whores pretending to care about more than their own skin.
Pass.

(115,584 posts)Why not somebody who has actual experience in the public sector? Maybe someone who has run for and achieved significant public office and thoroughly understands the inner workings of government? Other important jobs require extensive relevant experience; why not the presidency? Why do people get crushes on the next, newest shiny-object person whose only qualifications are that they look good on TV, seem to hold the correct opinions, and don't seem to be actually stupid? Avenatti seems to be a clever, successful lawyer (although he has made some procedural mistakes), but why shouldn't he just keep doing what he's good at? He's just the next on DU's list of attractive shiny-object people who, except for being smarter, are no more qualified for the presidency than Donald Trump. Rachel Maddow? OPRAH??
If Avenatti would like to be president, which, btw, he has not indicated at all, let him run for the House, serve a few terms, then maybe the Senate, or Governor.
