Trumps newest lawyer responds to critics who suggest hes lost a step.

As President Donald Trump and White House aides expressed their discomfort over Rudy Giulianis free-wheeling interviews, those who know the former mayor from his native New York City and whove seen him at recent events suggest its just Rudy being Rudy.
They described a man whose once-powerful legal career long ago morphed into a role of attracting clients for law firms and using his contacts to help emerging businesses. Much of that work was conducted in loose social settings, with Giuliani drawing attention for his outrageous statements frequently directed at his favorite target, Hillary Clinton while delighting some listeners and offending others.
On Tuesday, however, MSNBCs Joe Scarborough went so far as to state on live television that Trump didnt initially hire Giuliani for a Cabinet post because he was losing it, falling asleep five minutes into meetings and drinking too much charges that Giuliani himself rejected in his own combative style in an interview with POLITICO.
None of that is true, Giuliani said of Scarboroughs remarks in an interview Tuesday afternoon. Im not sleeping now. Im in Dallas. Im wide awake. Ive handled numerous cases including some sensitive cyber matters. Im a lot more aware and intelligent than Joe has ever been and a lot more accomplished. Joe hasnt been knighted by the Queen of England. He hasnt run a U.S. attorneys office, much less a city that he turned around or went through 9/11.
As for the allegations about his drinking, Giuliani acknowledged being a social drinker but said he doesnt have alcohol early in the day.

(2,654 posts)From Giuliani's initial blab on Hannity's show, through his next day's appearance on Fox and Friends, through his Saturday appearance on Jeanine Pirro's show, Giuliani has scuttled whatever had remained of Trump's defense to allegations of campaign finance law violations regarding the $130,000 payment by Michael Cohen to Stormy Daniels. Throughout, Giuliani has spun various scenarios involving the motivation behind the payment as well as the timing and mechanics of Trump's reimbursement of Cohen.
I was particularly galled when Guiliani boasted that he is "an expert" on campaign finance law and that, in any case, because Trump repaid Cohen there now exists no grounds to assert that the $130,000 payment by Cohen to Daniels violated campaign finance law.
I agree with Daniels' attorney, Michael Avanatti, that it is time for Giuliani to be put out to pasture.

"Rudy Giuliani on Fox News insists Trump did not violate campaign finance laws"
Rudy Giuliani appeared Saturday on Fox News' "Justice with Judge Jeanine," insisting that President Trump did not violate any campaign finance laws.
. . .
Mr. Trump has denied knowing about the payment, but on Wednesday, Giuliani told Fox News' Sean Hannity that Mr. Trump reimbursed Daniels. Mr. Trump has denied knowing about the payment.
Mr. Trump tweeted Thursday he paid Cohen through a monthly retainer, it had nothing to do with the campaign and it was no with campaign money. But on Friday, Mr. Trump said "virtually everything said has been said incorrectly." Mr. Trump said Giuliani "will get his facts straight."
Giuliani released a statement Friday to clarify his comments, saying "the payment was made to resolve a personal and false allegation in order to protect the President's family ... it would have been done in any event, whether he was a candidate or not." The distinction matters because if the payment was made to help Mr. Trump's candidacy, it could be considered a violation of campaign finance laws.
Giuliani claimed Saturday that "any campaign finance expert" would say that if Mr. Trump had repaid Cohen for "another purpose other than just campaigns and even if it was the campaign purposes ... If it was to save his family, to save embarrassment -- it's not a campaign donation." Giuliani then said Mr. Trump "reimbursed it fully with a payment of $35,000 a month, that paid for that and other expenses. No need to go beyond that. Case over."
Pirro asked if Giuliani was "talking about the facts or were you talking about the law," Giuliani said the law. Calling himself an "expert in campaign finance law," Giuliani said he had only been on the campaign for two weeks, "virtually one day in comparison to other people." Mr. Trump said Friday that Giuliani "just started a day ago," although Giuliani joined the legal team last month.

That's meaningless if he guzzles a 12-pack every night.
Like all alcoholics, he needs help. It's a disease, Rudy; nothing to be ashamed of. Your craziness and lies, though, are a different story.
