NBC News: In a new statement (their third) Novartis says they paid $1.2 million to Michael Cohen, had one meeting with him and determined he would be "unable to provide the services that Novartis had anticipated related to US healthcare policy matters."
Novartis says in a statement, "as the contract unfortunately could only be terminated for cause, payments continued to be made until the contract expired by its own terms in February 2018."

(1,237 posts)Avenatti's document said that AT&T paid Essential Consultants $50,000 in October, November and December of 2017, and another $50,000 in January of 2018 for a total of $200,000.
However, the contract was for a year, the source told Reuters, meaning AT&T likely paid more than $200,000 to Cohen's company. A full year contract for $50,000 per month would total $600,000. The source declined to give a total for the payments made by AT&T to Cohen's company.

(10,952 posts)would be more. I think that he reported what he could comfortably confirm at that time and that he knew that it was just the tip of the iceberg. I would rather that he publicly under estimated then over estimated.

(51,582 posts)interviewed both the Russian oligarch whose devices were copied at the airport and he already spoke with the drug company Novartis. This means that he has had all the documentation from Cohen and the oligarch as far as possible money laundering goes.
I wonder if he has made any progress with Cohen's role as deputy finance chair of the RNC appointed by the moron. That is the BIG question...this is how we nail the whole GOP. It isn't in the media (yet) but I would think Mueller has come across some of this info in Cohen's seized devices.

The money laundering will be the easiest to prove (99% of it is based on documents instead of witness testimony like conspiracy/collusion and obstruction) but will take the longest to accumulate since there is so much to go through and it is spread out in a ton of foreign countries and going access to documents is more difficult.

(44,996 posts)So bribery expands into conspiracy and obstruction. Nice.
They better have Bob Mueller on speed dial - and atone before the charges start racking up.
Some of these folks are going to jail.

(19,021 posts)This is an unprecedented corruption scandal and in a normal US would be the biggest story for months or years.
The President's personal attorney (And therefore likely the President) has been caught red handed accepting $Millions in bribes. In 100% of previous presidencies the President would be facing overwhelming calls to resign today and would at a minimum be giving a statement from the Oval Office on the crisis.
This is not even a lead story now, we are so far gone as a society that this doesn't even register for long.
