Gavin McInnes: 'Wearing A MAGA Hat Is Like Being Openly Gay In 1950'

Gavin McInnes, a CRTV host who also runs the Proud Boys hate group whose members are easily recognized in public by their uniform polo shirts, claims that wearing a “Make American Great Again” hat from President Trump’s 2016 campaign is akin to “being openly gay in 1950.”

“Here in New York City, wearing a MAGA hat is like being openly gay in 1950, and I’m not exaggerating,” McInnes said on Tuesday’s episode of his CRTV program. “You will get your ass beat, you will not last at a bar in Harlem—we try it all the time and get booted out. There’s many bars that say, ‘You cannot openly be here.’ If you go into a bar wearing a MAGA hat, people start getting uncomfortable. The bartender will ask you to leave politely and people will yell at you on the street and spit on you.”

“You’re treating us like pedophiles,” he added.

did support Roy Moore. Just saying... I have no problem shaming deplorables. They've hung their hats (so to speak) on hate, exclusion, misogyny and ignorance. You get what you get so don't throw a fit. They can stew in their own shit as far as I am concerned.

And a lot of people who I know made a lot of their money through inheritance (and possibly swindling their businesses and cheating the IRS). So a lot of the folks here vote with their wallets than with common sense. It really is infuriating to hear them parrot what they hear on Fox News since most of it goes against their best interests. Which contributes a lot to why we're stuck with creeps like Rohrabacher and Issa.

It's a Trumpster's favorite defense. In this case, McInnes manages to swipe at gays and draw a dotted line to pedophilia, all the while boo-hooing for his own lame ass.

A good day for the MAGA crowd, living up to their Imposter-in-Chief.

Sad.

asking for people to react. Nothing wrong with it, but his comparison is to a person being who he or she is. They can be pro Trump, without wearing the hat ... unless they WANT to make that stand.

If you’re sad about how wearing your piece-of-shit MAGA cap makes everyone hate you, here’s a suggestion: shove it up your bum, and wear it with joy up in there.

Your look-at-me-I’m-a-traitor cap can be easily removed from your pinhead, being gay or a POC cannot. That you equate your Trump-gang-wear anxieties with groups of people who’ve had to fight every day for acknowledgement of their existence is a purely hateful thought. There is NO equivalency there— it doesn’t exist.

Go shit in your hat. It’s gotta be good for something.

to go to a bar in Harlem wearing their MAGA hat.

By the way - back in the 1990s, I used to travel all over the northeast to watch basketball games at the high school & college levels. I went to a game once in Harlem with a friend of mine. We were two of a grand total of four white people there in a crowd of at least 500. We never once felt scared or threatened or anything. Never heard a rude comment directed towards my friend of me - though I can't recall if the white ref got booed by either side, but I would expect any ref making a bad call to be booed (Besides my friend and me, one of the three referees was white and one reporter was white) and our car wasn't broken into or robbed or anything like that.
