Bernie Sanders has a new plan to raise wages, and it's a major signal on where the Democratic Party is headed
Sen. Bernie Sanders on Wednesday introduced a plan that he says will boost wages by strengthening labor unions.
Sanders' Workplace Democracy Act would make it easier for workers to join unions and strengthen unions' negotiating power.
The plan is cosponsored by an array of Democratic lawmakers, including possible 2020 presidential hopefuls Sens. Elizabeth Warren, Kamala Harris, and Kirsten Gillibrand.
Sanders, an independent and a 2016 Democratic presidential candidate, said the plan was designed to help workers in the middle class.

(22,569 posts)This is the Democratic Underground and I prefer my Democrats to be actual Democrats, to be committed members of the party, to be proud to run as Democrats when they seek public office.
If you're getting the idea that I don't like Bernie Sanders--I don't.

(68,556 posts)passed, but we shall see. I voted for him in Ohio in 16, and I would never never vote for him in 20 in a primary. I am very disappointed in his actions since the 16 elections ...many which hurt the Democratic Party...the only party that can stop Trump.

(703 posts)Of the personality cult of Sanders I agree with this plan.
Hes not the inventor of it and it has been around a long time under various names such as card check. It was attacked fiercely by corporations claiming that card check took away the employees right to vote. Which was Bullshit but uninformed people bought the argument. When Obama won many believed he would fight for Unions and card check. He took on health insurance and the Great Recession. Cant do it all. But the time has come!
Stop arguing about Bernie. And start supporting our platform representative whom ever he or she will be! View the candidate as the representative of our values and platform and frame it correctly to avoid personality cults dividing the Democratic votes!

(68,556 posts)would run as he threatened last time, but even if he didn't, I believe Sen. Sanders is not electable for a number of reasons including his lukewarm support from People of color...who are a mainstay of our party.
