by Ken Meyer | 7:41 am, May 11th, 2018
A spokesperson for Fox News said they have banished the guest who said torture worked on Sen. John McCain, calling him a songbird for his five years spent a prisoner of war in Vietnam.
Air Force veteran and former military analyst Thomas McInerney caused massive outrage yesterday for his interview on Fox Business Network where he bashed McCain for his opposition to Gina Haspels nomination as CIA Director. McCain opposes Haspel because of her history overseeing the use of enhanced interrogation techniques, and when McInerney spoke to Charles Payne about this, he bashed the Arizona senator.
The fact is John McCain [torture] worked on John. Thats why they call him Songbird John. The fact is those methods can work, and they are effective, McInerney said.
Payne didnt challenge McInerneys remarks during the interview, but he later claimed in a public statement that a producer was talking in his ear, so he couldnt hear the objectionable comments while they were being made. The Fox host has also offered an apology to the McCain family.

(10,476 posts)This is how Fox News issues the non-apology apology while not pissing off their white, male whackadoo target audience. Most viewers are only going to see this story in the context of the on-air interview, where they saw this McInerney asshat give his reprehensible spiel, and the host just nods along and doesn't challenge it.
Fox releases this statement which most of the viewers will never see or hear about, nor will they be likely to notice McInerney's "banishment", and he'll surely still appear on the Breitbarts and Alex Jones shows.

(12,412 posts)Our military leaders should not allow him to do so as if he is representative or our fighting forces.
He may be exercising his freedom of speech but he is dishonoring our nation at the same time and that should be acknowledged.

(14,857 posts)Should they "demote" me because I've publicly demonstrated against the current Commander in Chief? Was I representing our military when I did that?
This asshole is retired from the military. He doesn't represent them and he doesn't pretend to. He goes on TV in civilian clothes and is giving his own personal repugnant opinions. That is his right.
