NPR Kelly Sadler: McCain Irrelevant, 'He's Dying Anyway,' White House Official Reportedly Says

Turns out she is a right wing hack from the Washington Times.

********

A day after Sen. John McCain urged his Senate colleagues to reject Gina Haspel as CIA director because she had overseen torture of detainees, a White House official reportedly mocked the ailing Arizona Republican, saying his opinion "doesn't matter" because "he's dying anyway."

snip

McCain, 81, who is suffering from incurable brain cancer, issued a statement on Wednesday calling Haspel's role in torture "disturbing" and "disqualifying" for the top CIA job.

The White House did not dispute the remark attributed to Sadler, but said in a statement, "We respect Senator McCain's service to our nation and he and his family are in our prayers during this difficult time."

The reported remark by Sadler, a former opinion writer for the conservative Washington Times, came on the same day that a retired three-star general told Fox Business Network that the torture McCain endured as a prisoner of war in Vietnam "worked."

THAT, in itself is an indication of the problem with the Trump administration. From the president down, they repeat stuff that only a few years ago was considered to be very very questionable -- certainly not what an official government - even Cheney, Rumsfeld or Bush would say. The Washington Times was often called the "Moonie Times" because they were (are?) owned by that "church".

Trump has given press credentials to Jerome Corsi (of Birther and Swiftboat fame) for Alex Jones, which was almost the poster child for conspiracy theories, not news. Bannon came from Breitbart, which carried made up contrived stories - where the perpetrators even were found guilty of hoaxes. There is not wrong with a media source having a political orientation in their commentary and editorials. This goes beyond that to making up facts or (at their best) cherry picking facts to demonize us and reinforce their own people.

This seems to have allowed RW radio and Fox, that were already not bounded by facts, to themselves move into an alternate reality. What they felt they needed to target using social media to only some people, they now say openly on the radio and TV.

Add to this, they are calling the mainstream media "Faux News".

.... of the local TV stations would have them on but the local Fox ands Sinclair Broadcasting
stations ran the "Swift Boats for Truth," video multiple times. "They" live in a sea of lies and
smears and will change the subject ASAP when facts are brought in.

And speaking of facts how often did you hear that Trump's military boarding school was really
reform school for rich kids?

and in mainstream accounts they said that it was for hard to control kids. I don't remember if they used the word reform school, but it was pretty clear that this was NOT a prep school like the many that the normal children of the wealthy were sent to!

One place that clearly did not understand this was a Daily Mail article that contrasted St Paul's where they thought they had a BIG find when they showed that Bob Mueller and John Kerry both attended and were on several sports teams together with Trump at a 'military school". In fact, St Paul's was one of the top prep schools and Mueller and Kerry were leaders there. Trump's was really a reform school.

What is hilarious is that they circled Mueller's and Kerry's faces in team pictures as if there was something wrong with these two young boys being on the soccer, hockey and lacrosse teams. Mueller was the team captain of all three and in 2004, Kerry spoke of Mueller being an incredible athlete and the best player. They also had photos of a young Trump in fake military regalia. That article is constantly linked on twitter to discredit Mueller, but it actually shows Mueller as a young boy with the qualities to be picked to captain his teams -- not to mention, both look so young, innocent and handsome.

The Washington Post, which should have known better actually compared Mueller and Trump. https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/mueller-and-trump-born-to-wealth-raised-to-lead-then-sharply-different-choices/2018/02/22/ad50b7bc-0a99-11e8-8b0d-891602206fb7_story.html?utm_term=.9e32f6095aa9
Their title is that they were born to wealth and to lead. In fact, Mueller was born to both. Trump's family had the money, but never were accepted by the elite. (Kerry and Mueller had more similar values and backgrounds, though Kerry was not born to wealth, though he was very much a part of an elite, wealthy extended family.)

And somebody in that room couldn't wait to get to a reporter to publish her odious "thoughts." Sadler really should be thinking about the next stage of her career, if this is what the people who work most closely with her think of her. Any openings for national dung beetle?
