(30,481 posts)The difference in his threats are that they are not specific like Trump often does and Avenatti makes good in some way.

(9,670 posts)I have no doubt that these are not idle threats. However he's been able to procure this damning evidence, he's got it, and he's willing to share.
Michael Avenatti is the people's Mueller. While the special counsel works quietly and meticulously, much of the information available for public consumption comes from right wing propaganda and distortion. Stormy's attorney has somewhat leveled the playing field. We're getting Mueller-like information from a credible source as a bit of a hedge against the Devin Nuneses of the world.

(17,150 posts)From Avenatti's interviews, that he has some but not all of the information as to where the Essential Consultants money went. He seems to be confident in obtaining the rest.

(9,670 posts)While I don't think his research is complete, he appears to have some powerful and damning evidence in his possession already. I just hope he times the release to counter any BS posturing from the right.

(31,810 posts)That Trump/Cohen knew about AG Schneidermann (sp?) in NYC. We know Cohen's attorney is trying to get records sealed around that 'knowledge' -
I'd bet Avenatti has proof they knew and were going to use it as blackmail fodder.
It's like Mr. Avenatti said - you can fire Mueller but you can't fire me.
I like this guy!

(14,173 posts)But I'd really like someone like Avenatti as a spokesperson for the Democratic party. For better or worse, probably worse in the general sense. Democrats are STILL so far behind in reading the state of the union, and that it has turned into a reality show. Where it truly is about ratings. Eyes on the box (or phone). Trump understood this long ago and slid right in like a warm bath. (sorry for the visuals)
That it can't be always reacting to Trumps latest tweet and/or being defensive against the latest fake CT. They have to call out Trump and his minions in the harshest language. Every freaking day. Even stuff that hasn't been proven and stamped and gone through a committee, and redacted, and then gone over by HR, and finally stripped of all 'distasteful' adjectives before some spokesperson is allowed to go onto network news shows to narrowly repeat the approved talking points in a statesman like manner.
That is just not working.
