(130,895 posts)First lady Melania Trump underwent kidney surgery Monday at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center near Washington, DC, according to a statement from her office.
Trump had been experiencing an issue with her kidney that her office described as benign but requiring medical attention.
"This morning, first lady Melania Trump underwent an embolization procedure to treat a benign kidney condition. The procedure was successful, and there were no complications," the first lady's communications director, Stephanie Grisham, said in a statement.
"Mrs. Trump is at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center and will likely remain there for the duration of the week. The first lady looks forward to a full recovery so she can continue her work on behalf of children everywhere," Grisham wrote.
Trump, who turned 48 last month, entered Walter Reed in nearby Bethesda, Maryland, on Monday morning.

Embolization is a minimally invasive surgical technique. The purpose is to prevent blood flow to an area of the body, which can effectively shrink a tumor or block an aneurysm. The procedure is carried out as an endovascular procedure by a consultant radiologist in an interventional suite.

(51,590 posts)her by allowing her to relax in a caring atmosphere, unlike the W House. I wonder if the moron will even visit her. Last week all she got was a crummy birthday card, then no "Happy Mother's Day" from him. He probably will have a porn star brought into the W House while she is recuperating.

(51,590 posts)his Happy Meal and chokes on it. That would be his appropriate demise. I bet no one would even consider using the Heimlich Maneuver as they stand around and watch as they decide their next career move.

(61,695 posts)You get pushed out 48 hours after having a baby unless the doctor can find a worthwhile complication to keep you in longer. Lots of minimally invasive oprocedures are done on an outpatient basis.

(14,531 posts)I had a C-section and was out in 48 hours. IMO she had a another procedure along with it, if her stay is that long.

(205,320 posts)To report any symptoms and to answer questions. The anesthesiologist even visited the next morning to check on how I was doing. And I was on a morphine drip while I was there, the same as when I had major surgery for the same thing at Mass General in Boston. For that, I was hospitalized for a week. But embolization only required two tiny incisions that I barely noticed. BTW, the embolization finally "cured" me, I have had no issues since.

I also feel the anger and rage at the right for the way Hillary and Michelle were treated even though they were not politicians but, simply the wife. They did what First Ladies do and were decent. Yet the right treated them like dirt.
