Because we are standing on the precipice of falling backwards into the same patterns of bigoted and ugly behavior.

That Black people are being shot by cops before they can even say a word is getting more prevalent every day. If all of the reports of Blacks being shot every day headlined the evening broadcast, the numbers would be staggering.

Now white people are calling 911 on Black people for _____________ (fill in the blank), and acting as though there is noting abnormal about this. There is NOTHING in the slightest NORMAL about this.

To the woman in the park at Lake Merritt - who died and put you in charge of park ordinances ? This was an honest misinterpretation, at best, of BBQ rules. Yet you stood there for TWO hours, waiting for the cops to show up, telling the family, "Y'all are going to jail," then breaking out the crocodile tears when LEOs finally showed up, telling the cops that YOU were being harassed, despite videos to the contrary. Not only are you a bigot, but you're a liar.

To the woman at Yale, who called 911 on the grad student who fell asleep in the common room while writing a paper - who made you dorm monitor ? Your website (which you deleted) says that you are a "First Amendment" lawyer. Really ? You must be an incompetent lawyer if you're still living in a dorm room at Yale. Your site also referenced that you are working on your FIFTH degree. Yale is not a cheap school, so you must have serious money to be working on a FIFTH university degree. What's your malfunction ? You can't find a real job ? You also called 911 when you encountered a Black male student in the stairwell, blocking his entrance to the floor, telling him that he "didn't belong there." Are you a fucking psychic too ?

And don't even get me started on the Waffle House, or Starbucks, or Denny's (who still haven't cleaned up their act).

I am so sick of the racism in this country, I could puke blood. Anyone who thinks they are superior to someone else based on the color of their skin, or who orders Black people around like they're your servants or who tells Black people what the law is when they don't even know what the law is themselves, is nothing but a deranged, pathetic and rabid loser. Get over yourselves. You are NOT special.

Wake up, white people. We are all better off when we realize that we are ALL THE SAME. We are all human beings. We are all Americans. Stop allowing wedges to be placed between us by neo-right wing crazies and haters.

Stop the racism before it destroys us all.

I went to school with W.E.B. Du Bois' granddaughter. I thought she must have meant great granddaughter, at least, but I looked him up and she was his granddaughter. These horrific times are closer than we realize.
